Track:I Felt the Chill Before the Winter Came
Elvis Costello
Secret, Profane & Sugarcane (2009)
Costello teams up again with the great T-Bone Burnett for a largely acoustic version of bastardized Americana, not unlike the duo's pairing on Costello's King Of America back in 1986. Plenty of weepy Appalachia and countrified nuance. Listen to the excellent "I Felt the Chill Before the Winter Came," written by Costello and country legend Loretta Lynn.

I still don't like country but I could listen to Elvis sing most anything.
Then you're sure not to like my upcoming 8CD Louvin Brothers post. No Elvis... but plenty of Everly Brothers roots to enjoy.
I may give it a listen. We each have different tastes but MOG has exposed me to lots of things I wouldn't have heard otherwise.
I try to keep an open ear.
It's hard core country. The 50s kind. But the harmonies are to die for... if you can handle the twang. It will take a few days. I mentioned 8CDs, right?
Louvin Brothers? I WAN' IT!!!! I WAN' IT!!!!
And, as I've said elsewhere, the new Elvis CD sounds a good as King of America, but the songs are a lot stronger.
Actually... you NEED it. A few more days and I'll have it together. Still need to process all the info.
OK... I'll skip lunch.
Tantrums work!
Yikes! 8 CDs of 50's twang? I love country music, but even that may be too much for me. I'll put my toe in and test the waters though.
