Paul was just waiting for the big payday

Paul McCartney has signed a $400 million deal, which will see the Beatles catalog make its way to iTunes, at long last.
Though McCartney will probably make off with the lion's share of the cash sum, Ringo Starr and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison will also benefit. Michael Jackson, EMI and Sony will also be paid, as they each own a share in the back catalog. McCartney may actually have to pay out a little more on his divorce settlement because of the deal. How that works is anyone's guess, but you gotta feel sorry for him; having to share all those millions is just plain malicious. When the albums will actually hit iTunes is not yet confirmed, but we'll keep you up to speed with any banging of Maxwell's silver hammer.

hey, he was always the more commercial beatle, but it needed to and had to happen. itunes without beatles is like winter with no mountains to ski on...........bad analogy........i know but

about time!

"having to share all those millions is just plain malicious" 400 million is a lot and if he wants it all then he's just plain greedy. I'm sure he has more than enough as it is to allow even his grandchildren to never have to work.
not a fan of the beatles so I didn't realise they weren't on itunes, but the more music the better!

This is cool more for the final legitimizing of iTunes vs. getting The Beatles out there. I suspect most everyone who wants them already has them, but it'll be interesting to see their sales numbers after a year.

I guess the younger generation who doesn't own them would get digital copies, but it just doesn't seem right not to have a hard copy of The Beatles. That would be like chocolate chip cookies without the choc. chips......wait......that'd be sugar cookies, which are still okay........but ah.....another bad analogy. : )

What was it that Macca wrote? "And, in the end, the cash you take is equal to the tunes you make..."
