WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Maybe The Raconteurs are Crazy?

Posted over 3 years ago
Jack White is brilliant guitarist/musician whose energy is infectious. Last night at the Warfield in SF, The Raconteurs put on one hell of a show. Patrick Keeler's powerful drum work channelled the spirit of Mitch Mitchell. After listening to their first gigs a few months ago in the U.K., you got a real sense of how tight the band has gotten and how they are growing each song every night they go out and play. Besides going through the 10 tracks on Broken Boy Soldiers, there were some fine cover versions like the classic "It Ain't Easy" by David Bowie, and Cher's "Bang Bang". The most surprising and fun moment of the evening occurred when the band returned to the stage to perform their encores and as they began to play - Jack White stepped up to the mic and howled “I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind…” I felt vindicated in how that song will creep into my head while I am walking to the bathroom at work. Now I know am not alone in this illness, Jack White has it too.

  2. Wanbli says Same David. I was enthralled every moment of the show - and hate to admit that they blew Pearl Jam away as well. I can only ponder what lies in the future for this amazing rock band as they expand their catalog.(and hope they continue writing music together) Seeing Jack White feeding off a real kick-ass drummer (sorry Meg) was a sight to behold.

  4. EmergencyTrap says Hm. I hate to admit it, but I'm completely unimpressed with their album. However, maybe they're one of those bands that needs to be seen live to be understood. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a show of theirs and see what all the buzz is about.

  5. roscoebear says You should definitely see them live. JW is truly electrifying on stage. I saw him at the SF Warfield show Sunday and with the White Stripes a year ago. He puts on a hell of a show. Like a demon possessed and channeling past rock gods. Seeing The Raco-s do "Blue Veins" last Sunday was worth the price of the flight, hotel and tickets alone. As for your opinion of the album, the term "unimpressed" seems harsh...especially for something so well crafted. But to each his own.
