Don't ever let the facts get in the way of a whopper of a story. Submitted for your approval is the tale of a little girl praying for scarlet hair ribbons. But the stores are already closed, so that wish won't be answered. But lo and behold, the next day, said girl has scarlet ribbons aplenty! How was this Christmas wish granted? On Christmas eve, Henry Corwin, a department store Santa Claus, found he could pull anything anyone desired from his bag of apparent rubbish. Did this girl meet Henry Corwin? Just another little tale from...The Twilight Zone. Right. Harry Belafonte recorded "Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair)" in 1952. Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" didn't show up on TV until 1959. But it's something to mull over as you prepare to search for the latest (unleaded) toys for your kids, eh?
