WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Handkerchief video

Posted over 2 years ago
I'm still stuck in the past, stopping off in the 1980's. It's amazing how one thing in a music video can make it memorable enough to seek out the artist. Here, it's a handkerchief, used by Anita Baker for her landmark "Sweet Love" video. Since then, I've compared other soulful singers to Ms. Baker, and...far too many lack passion or a handkerchief!

  2. 2Serenity says Wow! I love Sweet Love well that entire album but then I stopped following Ms. Baker. She was just classic for me in the 1980s. Thanks for sharing! [oh, I tend to read a lot of back posts because I miss so much. I gotta catch up!!]

  3. aedjp says Old old post... but the only one so far about Ms Baker, so I have to comment, even if no-one ever notices! A beautiful song. I lent Rapture to a housemate maybe 10 years ago and haven't seen it since. That means I probably haven't heard it since. This is the kind of song that can stir up so much yearning - a true 80 soul classic, reminding me of early Chiltern Radio days with Louis Martin and Martin Collins ("Chilterrn... Raydee-o - covering Herts Beds and Bucks"). So I must go find it again.
