Thanks to Michael Goldberg for noting here the day of D Boon's passing. The Minutemen were one of my first obsessions, and early on distanced themselves from the rest of the LA punk scene by pushing the envelope lyrically and especially musically. Double Nickles on the Dime is an essential album. I have no doubt that if D Boon were alive today he would still be making vital and challenging music. Choosing a song is hard, but I like this one, it has a spoken word quality to it. I think the lyrics are very cool:
"How can I? Make an outline of myself?"
"How do others see me? I'm worried"
"The media ...robs and betrays us..no more lies"
"We are responsible"

My Trusted MOGs
Thanks for that - got me thinking about proto-hardcore. Tried to find some Urinals, but found some Chairs Of Perception instead. Well only about 30 years out.

Wade I couldn't agree more. One of THE most underated bands of all time IMO. If you asked me to pick my 10 all time favourite Punk albums, "Double Nickles" would always be in the mix.
I heard that they were just on the cusp of being a real major act in the States when D.Boon died.
