Great Woods review

Posted about 1 year ago
Great Woods, um Tweeter Center, nope..Comcast Center Mansfield MA. 6/24/08Ok this is a not so nice review from Tedheadone. The venue problems seemed to really affect the show in his mind...I guess it would mine too.

Thunderstorms rolling through the area. Two inches of rain in the afternoon. Lightning striking the roof of Great Woods. Leaks in the roof. Bryan and Aya taking 6 1/2 hours to get in from Burlington. Crowd worse then NY....words I never expected to utter...

Premium parking in the lot by RT 140 for easy exit...$30. Premium parking on the premises, with the same premise of "easy exit" for $40. Can you believe?? and all oversold judging by the peeps asking me, at the very friggin rear of the joint, "is this premium parking?" after they got shunted into that lane.

My opinion, and that's all it is, is that there is a serious issue at this place...the woods along the parking lot are full of kids takin a leak. Guys and girls. Not 20 feet from the line of traffic crawling by, 10 guys lined up against a chain link fence....Geez, the lots should be lined with port-a-potties... especially if they are planning to let everybody drink all afternoon. I left right after The Nocs, and they were still trying to stuff cars way in the back, peeps parked haphazardly. Traffic jammed due to a little fender bender way out back in the lot that included an almost 16 year old girl nearly passed out in the back seat, delivered soon, by ambulance to the local hospital. Proud parents soon to be notified... Security watching kids climb a hill and cut the fence. Seriously, it looked like border jumpers along the Rio Grande...Way out of control...and the issue here, like at SPAC, is that unticketed fans come to tailgate..costs nothing to park and no one disturbs them...resulting in long delays and no parking for the peeps that are going in. DMB had started by the time I could think about getting in my car to leave (after helping park others!) and it was obvious that lots of peeps in the lot had no intention of heading inside. The whole thing was gross... Come to think of it, I guess low expectations are in order for anything "Comcast"...

Nice, though, to run into One Away before the show and catch up!! GPN took the stage and delivered a set well received by the sparse crowd there. Very nice to hear Paris, and played in original form. Haven't heard this song since the one time I heard the reworked version awhile ago.

NBTW featured a very loose 4 way that had Scott banging a cymbal with his hand...

Scene in the crowd...The aforementioned One Away, Jodi in from W. Rutland, Aya and her cousin and friend, Guitar Tech Guest Swany, and Adrienne sidestage

Set List:

Ah Mary
Ain't No Time
Mastermind
Apologies
Stop the Bus
Paris
Nothing But The Water
