Thanks, MOG Secret Santa!...2006 edition
-
Artist:
A few things have gotten in the way of giving public thanks to my MOG Secret Santa (whom shall also receive their props before my head hits the pillow tonight). This past weekend, as I was thinking about what I wanted to include in my "thank you" post, I tried to recall what I wrote last year...the guilt hit me like a wave when I realized that I had not done it. I knew that there was no way that I could proceed with the task at hand until I took care of the unfinished business. I'm not a believer in the "better late than never" school of thought, so understand that it's hard for me to even write this as I can only imagine how ridiculous this all is- and I mean ridiculous in the sense that it took someone a year to complete a simple task and the level of flakiness this must portray must be off-the-charts.
Many thanks, "Peggah":http://mog.com/Peggah, for gifting me with 21 tracks that were fresh to my ears, and I'm sorry for not giving you your due props in a proper and time-appropriate fashion. The disc was accompanied by a hand-drawn cover featuring a penguin; I dunno- is she a fan of this animal or something? ;)
Among my favorite tracks (all of which were fresh to my ears) were those by The Album Leaf and Brookville, but the prize goes to Tahiti 80 for The Artist I'm Most Likely to Follow Up With. I won't begin to verbalize the band's sound, especially since Peggah has verbalized it so eloquently "here":http://mog.com/Peggah/blog_post/20739. Below is a video for "Big Day", one of the tracks on the disc.
The tracklist is in comments- apologies and thanks again to Peggah!
