WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Do You Tag Your Music Files ?

Posted about 1 year ago

I am not an user of iTunes or any other iStuff and more than often i get music files without tags or with bad/incomplete tags, i'm using a small, simple and convenient free tool to help me in my taggin' tasks. I use it since some time now with complete satisfaction and it was updated about a month ago.
Kid3 shot-mini
If you tag multiple MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, FLAC, MPC, MP4/AAC, MP2, Speex, TrueAudio and WavPack files (e.g. full albums) without typing the same information again and again and have control over both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, then Kid3 is the program you are looking for.
Kid3 is open-source software, licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Features* Edit ID3v1.1 tags* Edit all ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 frames* Convert between ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags* Edit tags in MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, FLAC, MPC, MP4/AAC, MP2, Speex, TrueAudio and WavPack files* Edit tags of multiple files, e.g. the artist, album, year and genre of all files of an album typically have the same values and can be set together.* Generate tags from filenames* Generate filenames from tags* Rename and create directories from tags* Generate playlist files* Automatically convert upper and lower case and replace strings* Import from gnudb.org, TrackType.org, MusicBrainz, Discogs and other sources of album data* Export tags as CSV, HTML, playlists, Kover XML and in other formats

Of course if you use this, it's at your own risks, all i can state is this one works fine on my own comp'/setup, don't come complaining if it breaks your coffee machine, i am not liable AND i am not bankable 8)))

  8. Universalis says ° ° ° @Dale, MdMk is fantastic, but quite "heavy" and takes a bit of time to figure well how that works, it is simple, but need that time to get into it, the Kid3 tool i highlight here is very simple, compact, but featurepacked anyway. And both could probably work on the same machine without starting a war :)) @zarpex, joker or serious ? well let's consider both aspects : joker answer, it's spraying shit with carpaint at your neighbour's house walls... serious one, sorting the info and data that are sticked "in the back" of most media files, (eg. artist, album, track # and whoknowswhatothershit in comments :)))))) @I am, welcome back take your time to try this at your standards and uses, i say again it fits perfectly mine, now calling me back on this post might remain unseen because of the amount of messages, in case of problems, Mogmail me or scream the complaints at my Mply to make sure i catch it :)) U

  9. zarpex says Ah; thanks, Uni. I myself am completely unable to add a song to my iTunes unless it also displays the composer(s), original cover art, and correct year of release (or, in the case of classical music, the year it was written). There's software or something that can do that automatically now?

  11. Universalis says ° ° ° Of course, i believe iTunes can do that, also as mentionned above Winamp has this feature, probably Realplayer has it too, and Dale already spoke of MediaMonkey. The Kid3 has also auto features for some stuff. But... None of these are able to put any information on tracks where you haven't a single anything of a start of a lead of data about the song... such auto features work very well with all "officially" released music (that music many people download ((or leech)) into their systems, you know :)))) Alas it's much less efficient with bootlegs, rarities, self recorded stuff (mine or other's) or radio cuts/podcasts. That's also why i mentionned my endless quest... Now, go tag your files lil' Zarp, and act quickly !!! Before the big bad wolf RIAA sends them in the void of forgotten stolen songs oblivion :)))))))))))

  16. Universalis says ° ° ° But you can do that !! It's possible to add an image to a folder, and you probably have your bands in esparated folders, or even also the albums in subs, just assign image or color and here you are :))) well that could take quite some time to do... ...another time consuming EMCD ? guess yes...
