Medicine for the Billy Corgan disillusionati

Hey, remember when the Smashing Pumpkins weren't the laughingstock of the remains of the alt-rock community. Or better yet, remember when they were good? It seems like forever ago, I know, which is why whenever Billy Corgan does something to depress me (which happens a lot these days), I hit up the YouTubes and channel in to the last great Smashing Pumpkins moment ever, which also happens to be Generation X's music video swan song:
Okay, so maybe Billy Corgan still looks a tad pretentious in that video. I don't care. I was 8 years old when this video came out, and not only did I desperately want to be old enough to act like the cool kids in this video and the cool teenage neighbors who got to go to concerts of bands like these, but I also had a sneaking suspicion that I would never get a chance to reclaim that. I was right. The next year Tragic Kingdom came out, which while awesome on its own, was the bridge between grunge and the Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys that would dominate afterwards. It wasn't until I got to college that I discovered indie rock, which by 2003/2004 was not anything close to what I wanted it to be, nor was it as omnipresent as it was in 1996. Sigh. I really should have been born 15 years earlier. I'm just glad I got to appreciate this video while it was still relevant. I just can't quit you, Smashing Pumpkins.

Does this mean that you don't adore Adore?! Tsk tsk ;)
I will never be able to separate Billy from Sharon Osbourne's description of him as a "baldy twat in a dress".
I'd certainly describe everything he's done post 1997 as that. But Sharon Osborne is a fine one to talk.
I love the Pumpkins, whether it's the original lineup or not, it's still Billy. Then again I loved his solo cd 'The Future Embrace'(even though it received a trashing by most) & his work w/Zwan as well. As far as I'm concerned the Pumpkins were always about Billy, since he is the main driving creative force.
