WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Ultimate Sacrifice

I figured I would take a break from all this metal and tick people off with my Tribute to Jesus Post considering it is Good Friday tommorow. My life isn't the same anymore, and it's because I was saved by Jesus, who was seeking me from birth, and I ran from him the whole way. While on a horrible drug binge, I almost threw my 3 week old son across the room because I was strung out and couldn't get him to stop crying-> that was the moment God stepped in and proved to me that he is real. I went to TEEN CHALLENGE and got off drugs, learned about Jesus and what he did for me, how he caught me in my self-destruction and held me until I was strong enough to stand-> Good Friday marks the Day that Jesus CHOSE to die a horrible death at the hands of those who a week earlier we're calling out praise to him and laid out palm branches in front of him calling out, "Hosanna...Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" (in Matthew 21:1-11) He Chose to die for me, knowing who and what I was. Your beliefs may be different, I can respect that, but this is something that I have experienced, his saving Grace, HIS forgiveness, because of my sins he was crucified. And Easter Sunday represents the day he was raised from the grave fullfilling many prophecies of the old Testament, and appeared to over 500 people in a period of 40 days, and that is not in the bible only, read your history books. So this weekend is really special to me and makes me very emotional to have someone who loved me so much as to die for me, in order to bridge the gap between me and God. So to Him I am eternally grateful. God Bless all of you, and may you know a friend who would die for you! Here is a song that speaks of Jesus' death, how nasty it was to be disgraced by all the people who praised him a few days before. Happy Good Friday and Easter to Everyone.

  1. brz says TD- Great post, even if it doesn't involve any metal:) Jesus gets a bad wrap because of a lot of awful stuff his "followers" have done in his name. in my opinion, that's a terrible shame, because the world would be a better place if we loved ourselves and everyone else as much as he did. i'm glad to see someone like you spreading the Good News in a good way! everyone have a great Good Friday, and a very blessed Easter. peace brz

  3. zarpex says Ty, I must confess I don't share your religious faith - or anyone else's - but for all its anachronism, for all the conflict and unreason it causes on a large scale, it can be a great help on an individual scale, and it sounds as if it served a practical and worthy purpose for you. I hope that doesn't sound too patronizing - I think of Flannery O'Connor's famous outburst in reaction to Carl Jung's simultaneous endorsement of the Catholic Church and outspoken atheism - "I don't care what he says; I'M NOT JUST PRAYING TO EMPTY SPACE!" But I still want you to help me design Religion 2.0...

  4. dermahrk says Hoo boy. Aren't you the guy whose other avatar is the guitarist making the devil-horns sign?

  5. TylerDurden says Adam -> thanks. same to you & yours. Z-Harvard -> Honesty works man, you don't share my beliefs, and I respect that, especially since you showed up on this post when most are scared off. and your quoted quote hits me as I can say the same. Dermahrk -> Yes, I am the guy with Dimebag as my alternate avatar -> I can't worship God and love heavy metal at the same time??? Rhetorical, my personal walk with Jesus is awesome, fun, trying, convicting, liberating, and graceful. I'm not one who believes you have to dress in a suit in church or ACT all religious, Jesus takes me for who I am (or I believe, who he made me) I'm not pretending to be someone I'm not, God sees to my heart, so why try to pretend I'm someone I'm not-> you don't have to impress God, he just wants a relationship with you.

  6. TylerDurden says BRZ -> I didn't forget you, I do agree with what you said, "Jesus gets a bad wrap because of a lot of awful stuff his "followers" have done in his name. in my opinion, that's a terrible shame, because the world would be a better place if we loved ourselves and everyone else as much as he did." Christians (especially the ones portrayed in the media) give Jesus a bad image because they aren't living out his greatest commandment - Mark 12:28-34 'The most important one (commandment) is this....Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. (V31) The second is this: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF . There is no commandment greater than these." He didn't say feel love for your neighbor, LOVE is a choice, Choose to love everyone as yourself-> that would show the world the TRUE character and actions of Jesus -> and Like BRZ said, we'd be living in a better world -> but we put the freakin wackos on the news who tell us we're all going to burn in hell because we allow gay rights!!! YEAH , that really shows Love doesn't it. Or the wackos ruining a military funeral so the whole family has to have a ruined memory of burying a family hero. Or Anne Coulter telling a Jewish man he's going to hell because she is perfect and he's not-> blasphemy. Anyhoo-> thanks everyone for responding in your respectable ways.

  7. dermahrk says If Jesus gets a bad wrap, he should go with the Panini instead. Seriously, Tyler, I'm glad the old avatar was not a picture of you. Dimebag, OK. No reason at all you can't be Christian and a heavy metal fan. BUT you must admit that heavy metal is absolutely chock-full of immature Satanic imagery. I assume it's the sound, not the trappings, that appeal to you. God wants a relationship with me? Actually, I tried a couple of times in my life but he didn't bother returning my calls. Glad it works for you, though.

  8. TylerDurden says Dermahrk -> totally agree with what metal portrays, not great for a God-like image -> I grew up a psycho, didn't know God until about four years ago, so I have always loved the riffs and drums, never was a lyric guy -> so I don't neccesarily agree with their messages, but love to jam some heavy riffs on my guitar. and as for God not answering, that happened to me for years, I just didn't know that God speaks through his word, the bible, until the past few years, It was just the wrong phone number I was dialing!

  10. incense burning 19 times 3 says Joe, sorry I've been away for so long, been real busy. It makes me happy that you are spreading the word, you have an evangelistic gift, but it's hard to do that through the web, especially when most people think you're not being a true christian because you listen to heavy-metal. That's just the way man chooses to judge. Our church group went out to the streets friday night, seen a lot of homeless, and drud addicts, even had a shooting down the street from where we were witnessing, but God's Spirit dominated. 84...let me repeat, 84 people gave their lives to Christ in the streets in less than 4 hours! Praise God! God Bless you Joe!

  11. TylerDurden says Jack -> that's outrageous, praise God! that is awesome. I say let the people judge, it's their problem! It's not what youlisten to that makes you a christian, it's your actions, since no one on MOG can see my actions, I can see how it may seem hypocritical of me, but oh well. -> I am doing a lot in the church, I've overcome drug, pornography, theft, and violence addictions, so I have nothing to prove to anybody. I haven't gone on any evangelical outreaches, but I have done a few remodeling projects for people in Baltimore who are struggling. -> I did landscaping for an older Jamaican woman, cut down a few trees, weeded the garden, mulched it, cleaned the yard a bit. Nothing big, but it's making a difference in the community. 8 or 9 people came off the street and offered to help, shoot, can't turn down a free hand! God is awesome, he works in mysterious ways, and he uses people to get his work done, nothing more satisfying than being used by God to bless someone! Take care Jack!
