Let me start off by saying that this is my first encounter with Keane, but I know now that it will not be the last. Now to the review:I headed down to Amoeba with the sole intention of purchasing this album. This is not a common occurance. Usually $13, I found this bad boy in the new arrivals of the used section for $9.99, which after the student discount became $8.99, which after the $2 off coupon I found in the pinks became $6.99. Not bad. Upon purchase, the first thing that struck me was the album art. Now, everytime I heard about this album, one of the first things that is mentioned about it is the album art. I thought this was sorta odd, because I thought that meant this:
Cool, but nothing to rave about. Nothing so special that it would make you buy the album. That seems to be a common misconception. Upon purchasing the album, I realized that what that statement really meant was this:

Much more impressive. I got home and popped this sucker into my stereo for some background music while I indulged in some good 'ol Final Fantasy IX. Never fills you up. Never let's you down. Anyways, as the tracks go on, I'm paying less and less attention to the game and averting my focus more and more towards the music. "Damn. This is good". The first real listen I gave them, I was floored. The music is smooth. Very smooth. It's well put together and is definately one for the easy listener. The clashing of the mellow instrumentals and pounding bass prove to be an effective style. Throw in some phenominal vocals and a few neat mixing tricks and you've pretty much got it nailed. This album grabbed me from the beginning and never let go. Highly recommended.Side Note of Glory:Keane just added a show at the Greek in Berkeley on October 8th
