So I wouldn't actually call myself a feminist, but I spent a lot of time at the all girls college which is next door to me, and there is so much eau-de-woman-studies floating around that its hard not to pick up a little bit of it....So here we go, the theme today is:h2. +Girls rocking out and taking names.+ For the first track, I'm skipping a lot of earlier tracks (billie, aretha obviously came to mind) and jumping into the 1960's with what might be one of my favorite instantly explosive pop tracks. You know who these girls are even if you dont actually know them. They were the original recorders of +'Do Wah Diddy Diddy'+ which became a huge hit after "Manfred Mann":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_Mann covered it. Actually I would be super psyched if someone could dig up the original, I haven't heard it in years.

  1. Twotanks says h1. Debbie Harry Before Blondie is up next, only because even though you all probably know this song, it never gets old. And she kicks all sorts of ass. h1. And After

  3. Twotanks says These are all kind of strange tracks, but amazing nonetheless. I love this track by ENON...well I love them all but that was basically a bad segue into mentioning that I saw them open for +Of Montreal+ a few summers ago at the Swimming Pool in BKLN, and was kind of dissapointed. They are great at balancing a lot of electronic elements, but they seemed kind of adrift on stage amidst a huge maze of equipment. Ah well, at least I have my records Oh well Toko still has a place in my heart

  4. Twotanks says Couldn't mention Enon without posting this video for Daughter In the House of Fools, which is what got me hooked on the band in the first place.

  5. Twotanks says Ok last three, I know this is kind of a Mega-post, but I have finals approaching rapidly, and I doubt I'm going to post much for a while, if at all. Tell your friends about how sweet this post is, so I have tons of MOGger trustees next time I log in! Yay! This lovely singer is easily the most obscure of anything I'm putting up. She's actually one of my sister's very close friends from college, who after graduating from one of the most prestigious schools in the world, decided to move to NYC and sing in a band. How fucking rockstar is that? Anyways, I'm sure they'd appreciate even a few hits on their myspace, so here I go, unrepentedly plugging the best band you've never heard of: "What What Where":http://www.myspace.com/whatwhatwhere" I hope you all liked at least a few of these tracks - and also thanks to Dzendvokh for turning me on (very recently) to OOIOO.
