REO Speedwagon Booking Agent Imposter Scams Bar for $70k

Posted about 3 years ago

A bar in Canton, Illinois cut a $69,600 check for a man claiming to be booking an exclusive REO Speedwagon concert, though the man has no affiliation to the band.

Journal Star reports that the owner of Outskirts Bar, Kim Scott, is suing Allen Oldcroft after finding out he scammed her at an April meeting by claiming she could book the popular 80s band for a flat fee. He allegedly told her that she could print tickets for the show and that he would advertise it as "a private party."

REO Speedwagon still tour regularly, but mostly at casinos, fairs, and occasional ampitheatres. I'll bet Scott won't ever forget cutting that $70k check for a total stranger; he'll be "running 'round in circles in [her] mind."
