Okay, so I think mollifire first hipped us that this track was coming. Well, I just jacked it from hiphopdx.com. The verdict is still out on this one, but after the first listen...I like it. The hook is going to have to grow on me, but Busta does his thing, and Mike Shinoda has definitely stepped his rhyme game up. What do you guys think?
Haha, Frost. Beat you to it. :p

Fancy the hook, fancy Busta's thing, but I'm not sure that the Busta - Linkin Park dude mix in the chorus works well.
{your top artist this month is Garbage! Garbage! I'll put it down to practice and let is slide...}

lol...Jersey, I did it just to spite you, baby. :)
I think you're right about the Chester/Busta not quite meshing. The chorus would have been much better without Busta yelling "Too the ghetto!" over Chester singing. It doesn't get corny until Busta chimes in.
Everything else I'm feeling though. Nice beat.
Only thing this song is missing is some Shirley Manson!

hmm... I'm not feeling it... I do like the beat and you're right about Shinoda stepping his game up, and Busta is status quo... but the hook is awful.

So, you're giving it a thumbs down just because of the hook. Wow, tough crowd.

peacers troy-
i wonder if the crowd is tough, or if the song sucks that much. first, i'm sorry, but busta ain't recorded much worth listening to lyrically since the days of "Whoo-wah"!, and this is no exception. do i really need a "finally made it" song from busta more than 20 years after he spit his best verse ever? (scenario)
the other side of is is linkin park and mike shinoda's nerd/rock/hop. ewwww. enough already. when do fred durst, kid rock, and and that "come, come my lady" guy finally come and pick these dudes up for the "thank god that genre is gone for ever" retirement party. all that said, this was def his best verse so far... it didn't make me cringe once.
i like the back up vocals. why don't that guy ever get the lead on a track anymore?

I take it Brutha Los isn't into LP.
Although 9 times out of 10 I would agree with your bashing of the whole rock/rap thing, Linkin Park is that 10th time. These guys have made some incredible albums. Their sound is completely their own, and far removed from that "come, come my lady" guy (My GOD did I hate that song!!!). Honestly, they didn't invent the rock/rap thing, but they made it great (their DJ is actually pretty nasty on the decks). Hey, I will buy you a copy of their remix album Reanimation (featuring artists like Black Thought, Chali 2na, Amp Live, Pharohe Monch, and Planet Asia) to convince you of that. Linkin Park easily makes my top 10 list regardless of genre (and I wasn't even feeling their last album). Then when you look at how far Mike Shinoda has come as far as lyrics and style from that first album, you've gotta have some respect for the guy. I mean, considering that first album sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone, he really didn't have to step it up. That's just a dude that wanted to become better at his craft...regardless of the money.
And, sure, Busta has passed his prime. But this track is closer to the old Busta than he's been in a while.

lmfao
nah you right, i'll give you that on bus. i guess for me the thing that kills LP is the bad rap. the rock side of what they do is as original and incredible as you allude to, i just don't see enough of it.
i been hearing the remixes since they were doing it with amp live, before the jay-z budget, and i still think the singer is the best thing they've got going.
all that said, you make really solid points. i'll have to listen to some of the other LP remixes more closely.
and busta... well, i just miss busta!

I also liked the Reanimation CD and nobody even seems to know about that thing... I bought it strictly for the Black Thought & Chali 2na cameos. Speaking of which, Happy Rising Down Day. I'm about to go out into what looks like the apocalypse outside to pick it up...

lol...well, Brutha Los, I think we're all gonna just have to poor some beer on the curb for the old Busta. I'm feelin' your pain, homie. Toss on the Woo-Hah remix with Ol' Dirty, and reminisce about the good ol' days.
Damn...those really were some good ol' days.
M-squizzle-nizzle! Hey, I'm in the same boat. I definitely didn't give Hybrid Theory a chance. Just like Los, I was like, "Man, this rapper SUCKS!" and grouped them with the others. Then I saw that Thought had a feature on Reanimation, and it was over. Loved that album, then gave the first album a fair listen. The raps still sucked, but it wasn't ruining the music any more.
Yeah, man, I'm about to order Rising Down from Amazon for like 9 bucks. I can wait the few days it takes for shipping since I already downloaded it. Good stuff. I wasn't even expecting to like this one as much as I do. Have you heard it yet?
My Trusted MOGs
nope... well, not the whole thing. I've heard 3 of the songs (Get Busy; 75 Bars & Rising Up) but that's it. I kinda wanted it to be a surprise and to listen to the whole thing at once... I thought Game Theory worked so well like that that I tried to avoid hearing it. Glad to know though that you're liking it...

Well I'll give it a 2007 thumbs up, but it doesn't sound like classic Busta or classic Linkin Park. I like the bigness and grandeur, but I don't think I'll be humming these riffs in a few years the way I can some Busta grooves.
My Trusted MOGs
I guess it's all about expectations. I expected utter contrived crap. I expected a really forced collaboration that I would hate. So, I was pleasantly surprised with what I got. Does it stand up to Busta at his best or Linkin Park at their best. No. But, I was expecting another Nelly/Tim McGraw (errr, whoever the country and western dude was).
My Trusted MOGs
I agree.. the yelling over the chorus by Busta is a bit cheese.. and dear lord, I think I love you for saying it needs some Shirley. I might disagree for this song, but that's not to say that Garbage or the almighty S herself shouldn't team up with LP for something, sometime. That would be almost as hot as 'crushingly close'.
