Oh SNAP! I think that is an obligatory follow-up to any Rick James. Fighting urge to post Chappelle.......for now, but I don't know if I can hold it back forever.

Two memories on Rick James: 1982 - Standing on the corner of 28th and Seventh in NYC about 1130 at night. Really deserted and in the distance someone is singing 'Superfreak' at the top of their lungs and getting closer. Then a guy on a bicycle hoves into view, pedalling at top speed with Walkman phones on his head. Flashes a big grin as he passes, right on cue singing the line, 'she's the kind of girl...' Later the same year in LA, standing with the DJ in a Hollywood "star" disco. Every so often Rick James walks up and requests one of his own songs. When it comes on he funks up the dance floor like a mofo. Then sits back down until his next request. He's missed.

Don't know if you've heard Ricky Skaggs (bluegrass artist) and Bruce Hornsby's version of "Super Freak", but it's a hoot.
Speaking of Horn(sb)y, Troy is single-handedly bringing in the Sex and Drugs to complete the Rock and Roll holy triumverate. Thanks!
