Falling in Love Again

Posted almost 5 years ago

Have you ever wanted to make love to someone's voice? To be honest, I don't even know what made me start playing this CD today. I haven't listened to it in some months. But, I'm in love with it all over again. I've listened to this particular song a gazillion times today. Really. I counted. It was exactly ONE GAZILLION!
This is one of Esthero's more vocal tracks on Wikked Lil' Grrrls. If you're like me and probably River Lethe, you fell in love with Esthero's first album for two reasons: great production, and a haunting voice (kinda similar to Beth Gibbons from Portishead...but not quite. I hate to even make the comparison, because this is nothing like the Portishead sound. There's just something slightly similar with the voices and singing style...on Breath from Another anyway). With her split from Doc (who produced Breath from Another), Esthero's music has taken a completely different direction, but the voice is still there. I'm just so in love with this woman today.
Oh, and there's a kick-ass horn section near the end of this track. I don't know what it is about horns, especially trumpets. It just sounds like superhero music to me. Gets me all wanting to safety pin a bath towel to my shoulders and stand with my fists on my hips and my chest poked out. Maybe it's just me though. :)
I'm gonna try to make this my last Esthero post today...but there are two more songs that are really tugging at me today. :) But, if you want to give the album a listen, it's floating around my multiply page somewhere.

  1. dermahrk says Nothing like a picture of a scantily-dressed attractive girl to get me to check out a musical posting. Hey, I'm a guy - I was born to be shallow! Seriously, though, I really like this. I can see why you like this band (?) so much. Now I will have to listen to your other Esthero posts!

  10. TroyPowers says "Breast enhancements need not only be about looks and sex appeal. They could soon have a functional purpose too. A company is currently developing a microchip that stores music files and can be built into a breast implant, the Sun reports." Full article here The article is a couple years old though. Wonder why this never came to pass. I would have been more inclined to buy the ex those boobs she wanted, if I could plug 'em into the PC's usb port and transfer music to 'em!
