Walk with me. It's the tail end of 2001. It's been been a see-saw year in music...and otherwise. Guns N Roses gets back together (kinda). Aaliyah dies in a tragic plane crash. The band Franz Ferdinand is formed. Jay-Z and Nas shake up the hip-hop world with their scathing diss tracks The Takeover and Ether. And elsewhere, two other hip-hop greats, though an unlikely pair, were in the lab putting the finishing touches on a song that would cause irreparable damage to vertebrae across the globe and increase cases of whiplash exponentially. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Busta Rhymes and Dr. Dre with...

  3. TroyPowers says David: Yeah, man. Busta Buss at his best. He made some great videos. This one and Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. Busta Rhymes changed the game in more ways than one. But...yeah...Break Ya Neck...there's actually a serious chance of me hurting myself when I listen to that one. Anna: In the words of one of my favorite cartoon characters, Scooby Doo..."What the fuck?!!?" (which is the literal translation of that weird "arrooo" sound he used to make when he was confused). I'm just not getting the Jet/Busta correlation (maybe cuz I've only heard the Jet track a couple times). That, and because nobody's really breaking their neck to be my girl. :( Breaking a heel...maybe. :)

  4. Anna says Oh, sorry. Back in Ashley's post about odd pairings, I made a Jet – Are You Gonna Be My Girl & Busta Rhymes – Break Ya Neck pairing: – I said, are you gonna be my girl? – Break ya neck, nigga. I doubt that! Oh, and Busta's too good live. :)

  5. TroyPowers says Saw him perform for the first time when he was promoting The Big Bang at the House of Blues. If you could have somehow harnessed the energy in that room... Interesting fact, the first time I actually laid eyes on Busta Rhymes in the flesh was August 2005 in Miami. He was coming out of what I suspect was the weed spot which was right across the street from my hotel.

  10. chucky says Darlin', I did a 18 year tour of duty in NC, followed by 2 years in SC, followed by 11 years in VA. Both sides of my family come from GA originally. It's in my blood. That being said, I think you slayed me with the Bolt 45, haha. So, I am falling back on the tried and true here:
