let me add to the busta party
Anna Won Kenobi concurs.
2 nights ago, pissed I was, and almost ended up at a hip hop partay. Unfortunately, when we got there we realized that the club that was hosting it was closed for August. I promise to go there when it opens and shake it.
strong the force is with this one
No old school Busta post is complete without "RAWR, RAWR, like a dungeon dragon!"
Anna 'shaking it' at the Greek hip-hop spot. I'd pay to see that one.
You probably don't know this about me, but for 2 solid years, I was only listening to hip hop (preferences including Busta, Ludacris, Xzibit) and going to 1 or 2 hip hop parties a week ;)
that video has to be one of my all time fav's troy
Yeah, yeah...I'm still pretty sure the sight of it would bend my mind into a pretzel. :)
I changed my little drawers cuz my pants were saggin....
I remember being in 8th grade, and my friend and I would tape Yo! Mtv Raps every day. We must have replayed the "Scenario" video 50 times a day for two weeks. Two white kids, dressed in there catholic school uniforms, bouncing around the living room to Tribe/LONS was a sight to see.
That friend that I did this with ended up going to Duke, graduating at the top of his class then graduated from Georgetown Law School. I would attribute that to Busta, Phife and Q-Tip and their lyrical wisdom. Obviously they didn't have that great of an effect on me though.
Also on that tape: Kriss Kross's "Jump".
Those were the days.
Ah, man, not Kriss Kross! I was a die hard ABC fan. Kriss Kross were weak!
Ahhhhh.....ABC....the soundtrack to my 8th grade trip to Montreal. I vivdly remember listening to their song "Spiderman" that whole trip. I also vivdly remember buying a switchblade when I was there too, because they were so cool and I had a strong need for one. And by "strong need" I mean absolutely no reason whatsoever. But I was 14 and they let me buy one, so why not? Stupid Americans.
Hey, what's childhood without a switchblade? An empty, meaningless existences, THAT'S what!
That, and a 2-year stint in Juvie for stabbing a nun.
ALLEGEDLY.
I'm sure she had it coming.
I wish I could find a clip of the Blues Brothers when they go to see "the penguin."
Dam! By the time I got here it was already Saturday - but in the early A.M. - so I'm feelin' like Daddy Fat Stacks...
You're better off "Speaking in Tongues" in this church Blues Brother's clip, vs. the Penguin - but I couldn't find that one either...
