A Song I Was Ashamed to Love

Posted over 4 years ago
This is a song I dared not let anyone find out I loved. I used to have it on an unmarked mixed cd that I would only listen to (and...maybe sing along to) when I was alone in my car. Before *NSYNC (what fag decided they should start the name of their group with a star anyway?) started to win over the black public with their "Girlfriend" remix featuring Nelly and production by The Neptunes...LONG before Justin became black himself...I was riding home from work listening to this. :pSo, sue me!

  1. Cody B says Thank you for sharing this, Troy. It's OK.

  2. TroyPowers says They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. :)

  3. Cody B says Well, I will admit to being a fool for the Carole King song, Jazzman. I was 10 back in '74 and it spoke to me..I knew jazz was cool, but there really ain't any jazz in the song. I was duped.

  4. Lyrikhan says are you trying to say you're no longer ashamed? may wanna rethink that granted I'm saying this and I was not strong enough to not push play on that video

  5. kat3260 says Dear Mr. Powers - We are writing to inform you that Katrina (kat3260) has filed suit against you in Judge Joe Brown's small claims court for your involvement in the posting of this video. We demand that you *immediately* cease and desist from posting any additional *NSYNC videos. If you would like to resolve this suit without further litigation, please feel free to post a video with redeeming qualities. Thank you, CBS Studios Inc. :O)

  6. TroyPowers says Nope. I am no longer ashamed. I'm secure enough in my masculinity to say that I love Justin Timberlake and want to have hot greasy sex with him. :)

  7. kat3260 says Oh, I'll get in on that part...this has nothing to do with JT and everything to do with Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick :P

  8. Lyrikhan says damn...she got Judge Joe Brown up in it
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  9. TroyPowers says lol Kat, you mean I can't post any Nsync? Even the girlfriend remix? Come on! That was the hottest shit in the clubs for a while!
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  10. Lyrikhan says sad part is I knew all their names too Kat .... damn you MTV....DAMN YOU!!
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  11. TroyPowers says Well, rather than "redeem" myself, I think I'll go for a second count of eye and ear assault and admit that I also loved this song (which was, coincidently, also produced by The Neptunes). That's right. If I'm goin' down, I'm goin' down in FLAMES!

  12. kat3260 says Well, you might have found a loophole with the "remix" part; but if you keep posting *NSYNC then I'm going to be forced to reveal that I often compulsively sing "Bye Bye Bye"... dammit, now I've done it.

  13. TroyPowers says Yeah, see, you guys are just as bad as me. I only knew Lance Bass because he turned out to be gay. Wait, that didn't come out right. I only knew Lance Bass' name because there was so much press about him being gay. Didn't know the rest of their names. And I've never sung "Bye, bye, bye"...though, I will admit that it was kinda catchy. Damnit, what have I done?!!?

  14. mmcnamara14 says Justin Timberlake is my dad. True story. He's also my hero. Does admitting that you Tivo'd his HBO concert make you not a man anymore? It's not me, it's a guy I know.
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  15. TroyPowers says Wow, they're coming out of the woodwork! My name is Troy Powers, and I'm a Timberlake-aholic. How was that concert anyway?
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  16. Lyrikhan says I think we can admit to liking JT without shame now. He went all MJ on us....well at least in the musical/dancing sense....i guess he went reverse MJ racially. Now, TP's secret love for LB is another story. (yeah everyone goes by initials now) and I'll fess up to liking that BS (fitting) video...just better with mute on

  17. mmcnamara14 says The concert was actually pretty sweet. Hell of a lot dirtier than I thought it would be. JT is all growns up now. And so are the strippers/dancers in his show. I found myself humping the coffee table during "What goes around comes around.....". Our relationship hasn't been the same since.

  18. Lyrikhan says hopefully he humped his keytar to get back at you

  19. TroyPowers says lol...where's that video of the 4 guys grinding on the ottoman when I need it? Lyrikhan: Come on, the beat to "Slave" is great! Mac: "What Goes Around..." is a great song too. Damned Timbaland and Pharrel making me like these poppy fuckers. CURSE YOU!!!

  20. kat3260 says Yeah, I knew their names, and if I knew how to reformat that part of my brain I definitely would - can barely remember what day it is anymore and I've got that mess floating around up there. If this isn't a testament to the power of producers, I don't know what is. At least we can share in the shame together :)

  21. mmcnamara14 says Joey Fatone was awesome in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". I mean, who is Joey Fatone? And I heard that movie is awful. I would never see it. In all honesty, if JT and Tom Brady (aka TFB, Tom Fuckin Brady) went out on the town for a night, making bad decisions and living it up, how many children could they spawn 9 months later? 200? 300? The possibilities are endless.

  22. kat3260 says Joey Fatone has some horrible show now...The Singing Bee or some such garbage on NBC...

  23. Lizziegreeneyes says Troy... you are not alone... I too have a love for all things JT... this is backwards & including the N*Sync days & up to and including all the humping & strippers & hardcore groweds up boy from Tennessee... *mmcnamara:* I like the way you think... any chance you could introduce me to your dad... I could be your stepmother... but the good kind - not the Disney (C) EVIL stepmother kinda way... that is, on every day but Halloween - all bets are off on 31st October.

  24. TroyPowers says See. We should just start our own JT/NSync support group.

  26. Sterfish says My God, I shudder at the thought of the *NSYNC days because my little sister was really big into them and the Backstreet Boys. I was bombarded with the music all the time and she steady tried to convince me they were good many, many, many times (oh, and she was also big into B2K and Immature). It took until Justin released Future Sex/Love Sounds that I could admit that he really had talent. And that HBO concert was pretty decent, if not a little too long.
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  27. TroyPowers says I actually thought Justin's first album was better.
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  28. Lizziegreeneyes says I like them both.. need to consult the albums further to determine the winner ;) Hi, my name is lizzie & I am a JT/NSYNC lovah... ::Hi lizzie::

  29. jameson says Wow, again, way too much estrogen up inhere. Phew! and I will admit to the JT thing, Saw the HBO shit, have the disc on the Pod.

  30. Lizziegreeneyes says Now I have to say I haven't listened to nsync in quite a while... but JT - he's round my place here & there !!! I still carry that love deep down, ya know... never was a boyband girl til them - they were my first & my only... heh :) *J* you know me - always sharing the estrogen love witcha !!!

  33. TroyPowers says See, even the goth/indie rock chick isn't immune to the charms of NSync! No one is safe! If that isn't a scary thought for All Hallow's Eve, I don't know what is.

  34. Anna says ahahhaha I gotta admit I'm more of a Sexy Back fan, My Love ;)

  38. Augusts1 says "I only knew Lance Bass because he turned out to be gay." Yea, I _knew_ you had it er, uh, in you(so to speak). Funny to watch that vid now!

  39. TroyPowers says So, are you trying to deny that there has been at least 1 NSync song that you liked too?
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  40. Sabina Ruus says I think deep down everyone secretly likes Nsync....or maybe just Justin. Haha! Don't be ashamed! Ha!
    Permalink posted 10/31/2007
  41. Augusts1 says Who me? Well, I do have a 'friend' who went w/a friend to one of their shows just to support their addiction. My 'friend' admits that they did put on a pretty damn good show & an amazing tribute to Motown groups. Those boys really could sing, um, I heard.

  42. Lyrikhan says yeah i just realize mmcnamara said JT was his *father* and not lover so i guess JT humping a keytar to get back at him for humping the coffee table doesn't make sense....or it does is a disturbing way....... Troy....I blame you for my mistake with all that talk about greasy sex with Timberlake and your hush hush freakfest with Lance Bass.

  44. olb46ram says Okay, I am getting away from the guilty pleasure confession session here, but I have your answer to the star as the first character in the band's name. I say it started as an apostrophe to replace the "I" in "In Synch," but don't ask me what happened to the ultimate "h." I also say the reason to start the band with a punctuation mark is to get it listed first in alphabetical order. But I just noticed that iTunes switched punctuation-starting and number-starting bands to last instead of first alphabetically. Backfire!
