The State of Music

The year in music 2006 was a year of extremes. While The Corporate Dictators continued to struggle More and More Listeners were able to listen to More and More Bands literally All The Time! The Internet Revolution has taken hold of all of us Music Lovers and we are all conscripts in the war to free the music, most of us by choice some by chance. In a year when cd sales are at an all time Low, Artists in the new Mainstream.. The Internet, are making a sound in the grand collective of an ever smaller world. Bands and artists like The Hold Steady, Lily Allen, T.V on The Radio, Band of Horses, The Blow, Hot Chip, and The Decemberists are just a few of the Bands that have emerged with little or No help from big radio. Never Before have we had so much freedom to seek and find the music that we really want..music that we really need ..We are witness to a new beginning in the world of music. With a vast landscape to explore and Aural Sculptures to Create.

I Feature here Band of Horses "The Funeral" from Everything All The Time because I think that along with T.V on The Radio 's Return to Cookie Mountain..This is the kind of music release that makes you feel like you are part of something very, very special. I remember when I was a kid back in the eighties I was on a road trip with my family and I had just recieved U2 "War" for Christmas. I listened to it and was completely entranced and excited because I knew I was listening to a band that was rare an historic and epic band! I really liked how that felt. And like many of you I am sure, I seek that feeling with every new musical discovery. The feeling you get when you listen to a Band that really moves you... really speaks to you.. is a gift! And one we are blessed to recieve. Band Of Horses "Everything All The Time" is an album that takes you deep. It is an excellent representative of all that is good in the world of music. "The Funeral" is an amazing piece of work that is instantly a classic. T.V On The Radio "Return To Cookie Mountain" is another instant classic that many people will be discovering for many years. "Wolf Like Me" is a razor wire ride through jangly guitar wash outs to its crisp and urgent lyrical message..again you will find a Band that inspires you and rewards you with amazing new vision of the musical horizons ahead for us all.

Rejoice Brothers and Sisters for we are all at the forefront of The Musical Revolution! All we have to do is listen and share..

Enjoy The Adventure!

Here are The videos for Band Of Horses "The Funeral" TV On The Radio "Wolf Like Me" and my favorite Funny Video!

Peace..............Rik
