What I'm Writing on MSNBC
Posts
One of these days I'll make it back to Iceland for their big music festival, "Iceland Airwaves." They're all such effortlessly lovable hipsters in Reykjavik.
Here's someone from the band "Mr Silla and Mongoose" doing Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" on a ukulelee. See what I mean?

Well, the powers that be at MSNBC have decided to pull the plug on the column I contribute to called "Independent Study." Evidently writing about indie bands doesn't drive traffic to the site like Britney and Paris do. The Indie Study archive URLs will stick around, but they are not accepting new content. Dang it. And I was well on the way with a "Minus the Bear" story.
MSNBC is currently the only media outlet I write for. I am mulling whether to pitch stories elsewhere, or to concentrate on creating my own music, which has languished on the back burner for last couple years while I've been busy writing about other people.
Can't wait to see Under Byen at a bigger venue next week. They're opening for The Album Leaf at Neumo's on July 3. That will be a great double bill. I just heard that they will be doing an in-studio at noon on KEXP that same day.
I have been remiss in posting details about their show at Chop Suey last March, but here's a picture of yours truly with the band after that show:

Trep, this pic is dope, i love it. if this were Broken Social Scene, i guess you'd have to blow it up to prove it's really you, huh? ;)
Great picture there, Del. I don't even have that kinda thing myself. :-)

I'm sorry to hear that, Del. I was just on there yesterday. Perhaps you can post your Minus the Bear story here, so that it doesn't go to waste?
Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck!
Trep, i am sorry to hear it. as we all know, energy is neither created nor destroyed, just transferred; i believe Independent Study ceased to be because you are meant to move on to something else. (:
