WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Digging a little back

Not too back. 2002. Filter is a band that I feel has been overlooked in the long run. I've always known they were around and they did have a few videos running on MTV, but it wasn't until I heard this record in a friends car that I really took notice. I think it was the drum sound on this song (American Cliche) that really got to me. And so I bought The Amalgamut, their third record, produced, recorded and mixed by Ben Grosse (who did Sevendust's Animosity a year earlier. check it out). I have to say that this is a Sonic Masterpiece. Rarely have records come out sounding like this, and the experience only thickened the more I listened. The drums on this one are truely phenominal, and every thing else rises to the same level. I also must add that I really enjoy Richard Patrick's voice and must listen to him every once in a while. The song's are fun, they range in color but mostly kick ass. If you like this genre it just might be what you're looking for. Listen!!!

  1. dachmo says I LIke Filter, I Do. But to me they tend to sound a bit like Stone Temple Pilots. Half their songs sound like they're trying to please the record company the other half sounds like the real band shining through. I'm glad to see they're out with a 3rd album. I'll be checking it out. Thanks. -dachmo
