I'm a little ashamed to say that the first David Bowie record I listened to was 1995 'Outside'. This unleashed a wild man hunt after Bowie records only to leave me disappointed with the fact that none of his records sound like this one. 'Outside' is one of the darkest records I've heard and I really dove into it for a long time. The followup 'Earthling' shares the atmosphere I might add, but 'Outside' is a must in my book.

Bjork is for people who like Bjork just like Rock is for people who like Rock. You can't really define her music and so you either like it or you don't. For those of you leaning towards the like, I'd like to recommend her album Vespertine (it's her 4th if I'm not mistaken), if you don't own it by now. A friend defined it well: It's Bjork with a harp, a choir, a symphony and elctronics. It's my favorite of all her albums. I can't really put to writing what this album does or how it does it, but it just puts you in this gentle mode and kindly feathers you away into it's cotony, soft, blissfull sounding world. This song is one of my favorites.

I love NIN. There is really no other musical entity like them, nor is there a specific genre that defines them, and I think that everyone who knows them would agree that the title NIN is the equivalent to a quality stamp on a product. It seems that in their position today you should no longer judge them by their latest offering. The quality of NIN has long been carved in stone and it gives them the right to treat each product they produce as a stand alone being. What I mean is that rather than saying:"they've become this" we should say :"this is a record where they did that".You might like it or you might not, but you know that the next one could be something totally different. I also wonder if SOUNDWIZE "Year Zero" is how "Pretty Hate Machine" would sound in 2007. Just a thought. I like this song alot.

i totally feel you on NIN. i will give you a run for your money in a biggest fan ever contest. they have been at the top of my fave artist list for manymanymany years. and i'm glad someone else gets the older NIN connection to "Year Zero". for months i've been saying how much it sounds like "Pretty Hate Machine" and "Downward Sprial", as if "The Fragile" just never happened. and i don't care that Trent hates "The Fragile". it's still my all time fave album (especially the left disc).
because he's said so on many occassion. during that album he was having massive drug/alcohol issues, horrible problems with the record label, and his falling out with marilyn manson started. they finally split less than amicably shortly after they did the "starfucker" video. he's said he absolutely hated writing the album and never wants to do anything like it again. which is sad because i love it. :(

i was never a big Outside fan, but i didn't really give it much of a listen...I'll pull out my two dollar vinyl copy tonight and give it another listen though, maybe I can find something this time
one of my favorite Bowie records. Mind numbing production.
