When I first looked at downloading some songs from the Help: A Day in the Life charity album, my only real goal was to get the new Radiohead song. While "I want none of this" is a beautiful song reminiscent of "I will"- I was disappointed that it seemed more like just Thom singing at his piano not a band effort. At that time I was really digging the Demon Days CD and saw they had this song on the album and bought it as an afterthought. From the first listen this song has stunned me with it's simplistically layered stark beauty. The basic country style 'walking guitar', with the rhythmic clicking rim shot really accompany well the Gu-zheng(zither) played by Zeng Zhen. This sort of mellow enchanting song is best listened to while driving as you can immerse yourself fully in the song! The lyrics are sung almost sadly, though I don't feel he is painting a sad picture, I imagine it as him drifting from scene to scene through Hong Kong, a city filled with much promise in the wake of an economic boom.
