Music, Maturity, and Evolution

DuskIs dawnIs day...I was inspired by Annnna's "post":http://mog.com/annnna/blog_post/14215 talking about going to back to songs you loved and "re-discovering" them. But she covered that, so I'm going for a different angle. What songs have you gone back to years later and enjoyed? Not ones your forgot about, but rather ones that you didn't like at all. Low is one of those songs for me. Radio Song - Great! Losing My Religion - Classic! Low - I couldn't hit the next button fast enough. That was then. This is now. As time has passed and my musical palette has refined, I've come to appreciate lesser B-sides like Low. No longer do I pass it by, but rather take it in smooth. A subtle reminder that we aren't still all teenie-boppin, bubble-gum chewing, pop-chart tracking phish mongers.Anyone else have a song they once loathed, but now yearn for in quiet hours of the morning?--Torch

  1. Anonymous says I have more than a song....I have a whole band. Growing up, I couldn't stand The Who. Now, I can't get enough of them.

  2. shayna says I actually couldn't stand Losing My Religion when it was big on radio. I didn't understand all the commotion over that song...now when I hear it, I turn it up and sing along!

  3. Takeshi Kovacs says I'm really starting to re-listen to Radiohead's "The Bends". I originally Mogged that it was second to OK Computer and as I revisit it, I'm really appreciating the genius of this sophomore effort. It's vying for the top CD of nineties spot with OK Computer right now.

  5. dbboucher says I encounter this all the time, but like Anti-Amy, it's often an entire band. Since my tastes have expanded over the years, it's quite often that I go back and re-listen to artists that didn't impress me, and find I now like them. One recent example is Maria McKee. I kept running into her name as similar to other artists I like, but when I listend to her music, it didn't do much for me. I recently went back and re-listened to it all, and appreciate it a lot more now.
