Superdrag's debut album
Regretfully Yours was the first CD I had that no one else had ever heard of. The song you've heard is Track 4 - "Sucked Out" - Kissing the bride45 minutes a sideThis was my dream - Played out rockin routineWho sucked out the feeling?Who sucked out the feeling? That single was trippy and catchy just enough to get me to buy the CD. When I did, I discovered a band that I've bought every album since.
Regretfully Yours flows from the first cheesy distorted chord to the last fade out and you can't believe its been 13 songs in between. I think the whole effort is the feeling Pink Floyd so aptly dubbed "Comfortably Numb." Despite the great guitar and adept use of rests, you can't help but think the bassline melodies are slowly rocking you to sleep. You can tell that John Davis (lead singer, rhythm guitar) is dealing with a lot of
his own life in this album. However you are drawn in because he writes in a way that can only be described as an outsider's look at his third person form of self expression. The music itself is blended, layered, and mixed in a fashion rarely matched. There are perfect meshes of crying voice, clean lead guitar, overdriven rhythm guitar, softened bass, and percussion that are woven in perfection - each hitting the right volume and emotion to strike your aural pleasure zone. Its almost like the perfect soundtrack to that slow sunny Sunday drive through the easy rolling countryside hills."oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah it's comin on strong hypnotizing me this long" - from
Carried, Track 3--Torch
