SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

My Favorite Album.....Ever.

Posted over 2 years ago
I got my first copy of this in1975. I was 11 and by then, Dream On was all over the FM Rock radio and Aerosmith was about to release their 3rd album, ??Toys In The Attic??, wich everyone knows is a classic. Not alot of people seem to know about this gem of a first album. It was recorded after they signed a $100,000 deal from Columbia at Intermedia Studios in a little over a week. Produced by Adrian Barber, it showcases the brilliant and soulful guitars of Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. Very bluesey and killer tone from Les Pauls, Teles and Strats cranked up loud. Great drum sounds and insane vocals and lyrics from new rock and roll freak, Steven Tyler. The New Mick he was called by some. Drugs got the better of their ??Mark I?? career but they got it together again by 1989 with ??Permanent Vacation??. I think Aerosmith is one of the best American rock bands but I remember 'em before they were known as "elder statesmen"...when they were the meanest and dirtiest blues rock band I'd heard to date. Ya'll must check out this song, ??One Way Street??! It's their greatest recording ever in my book! I doubt they've played it live in a few years.

  1. atman says they were a lot bluesier way back when. I love old Aerosmith, but I don't think I've heard this one.

  3. RobinH says Everytime I think of Aerosmith, I think of the interview for "The Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years" in '88. I've just found what appears to be an past of an 'unedited' version on YouTube. Interesting if you have seen the final cuts that ended up in the documentary. I often wondered were all the money went.
