I stumbled across Ollabelle's debut somehow by chance. It looked interesting and I liked the cover art!

Well, for me it was one of those "chance buys" that some of us often make and hope for the best. No need to worry about wasted $ here, the CD was quite fine!

Their follow up "Riverside Battle Songs" is equally as good.

"John The Revelator", from the debut CD, is a traditional song and Ollabelle puts a new spin on it with their adaptation.

I have to mention that Maria Muldaur did a take on this song on her "Sweet Harmony" LP(available now on CD) from the mid 70s. It was titled "John The Generator".

Anyway, it's an intersting piece of music. Enjoy

This Joan Osborne track, "Nobody's Fault But Mine", is from a compilation disc "Shout, Sister, Shout", honoring the legendary Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Joan is joined by the wonderful Holmes Brothers.

Patti Smith was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Fans have known this was long overdue. But, hey, she finally got the honor her influence called for.

While "Horses" is her masterpiece,"Gone Again" is possibly her second best recording . ("Trampin'" is right up there too.)

"Persuasion", from her "Gung Ho" CD is classic Patti Smith rock! Her band, featuring Lenny Kaye on guitar, is an entity unto itself. They're fantastic!
