Hey, this past weekend I helped my uncle sell a sliver of his thousands of records at a record/cd collector show. Thier were a ton of great albums for sale here, so I picked up a few new CDs for myself heres a couple of the things I got.
The Smashing Pumpkins: "Ava Adore" This was a limited release of the first single of this bands fourth album "Adore". As you can see every one produced was numbered. I dont know the exact number made, but I know this was re-released by Virgin in 1998. I've always loved this song, it really showed a new side to the band, bringing a little electronica beats to the mix. Apparently the music video they shot for this song, ran production costs over one million dollars!
Green Day: Limited "Welcome To Paradise" Single My God. What to say about this band. I nearly lost myself when I saw this treasure in a stack of CDs being sold. I mean cmon, this is a limited ED. of a single of the greatest punk rock record of ALL TIME. yeah, I said it. Dookie was everything to me, and you know what... STILL IS! I had to buy this, it contains 3 songs. Along with "Welcome to Paradise" it has a live version of "Chump" and the demo version of "Emenius Sleepus". The sticker on the case says "Made In England" and each one is numbered. This was released by Reprise records in 1994.
Copeland: "Eat, Sleep, Repeat" (2006) This was an advance copy of Copelands most recent album. Before this, I have only heard a few songs from the band here of there, and never really had the will to go out and look for an album. But I couldnt resist picking this up, It just looked...cool. The songs are slow and takes some patecince to get into at first. But then some really great indie rock songs start to stand out. Songs like "Cover What You Can", "Love Affair", and "When You'd Thought You Would Never Stand Out" are my personal favorites right now. There were some haunting melodys on this, he has a soothing voice. I give this a 7 out of 10.
Block Party: EP This is a band that I just recently got a hold of. Actually to be honest, this was the first. After listening to this EP over and over, I can finaly say, I WANT to get the album.I did buy a shit load of other cds, including The Presidents of The United States of Americas 10th anniversery cd. (Witch is so freaking awesome!!!!) That band really made me think back to my younger days.Maybe Ill post more reviews soon. bye!
