Political Science

No one likes us-I don't know why We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try But all around, even our old friends put us down Let's drop the big one and see what happens

We give them money-but are they grateful? No, they're spiteful and they're hateful They don't respect us-so let's surprise them We'll drop the big one and pulverize them

Asia's crowded and Europe's too old Africa is far too hot And Canada's too cold And South America stole our name Let's drop the big one There'll be no one left to blame us

We'll save Australia Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo We'll build an All American amusement park there They got surfin', too

Boom goes London and boom Paree More room for you and more room for me And every city the whole world round Will just be another American town Oh, how peaceful it will be We'll set everybody free You'll wear a Japanese kimono And there'll be Italian shoes for me

They all hate us anyhow So let's drop the big one now Let's drop the big one now

what a shame that american foreign policy has changed so little since 1972 as to make this song still scarily relevant

It doesn't matter what we do, certain elements are goin' to hate us simply because we exist. "I don't feel like satan but i am to them". We either bow down an' become slaves to the world.......Or we remain free

Freedom is a relative thing, as Kris Kristoffeson has so eloquently pointed out. Beyond the rhetoric of the left, we are free, and for each loathesome idea spoken, let there be a thousand souls denouncing the speaker, But never a law to silence the speaker. And that INCLUDES STUPID HATE SPEECH LAWS!

OK..............let me have it!

does it really need any comment??

it was a great song in '72, and like Neil commented it's still relevant in 2007!

Just because a select few people loathe us for not particular reason doesn't mean we should give more people a better reason to do so. I've traveled a fair bit around the world, and what impresses me is how many people know what a good thing we've got, and how little we appreciate it. We've got to do what we can to maintain good relationships with these people, because that attitude can so quickly turn to distaste at our arrogance. As far as being the world's doormat, I don't think we've got much to worry about.
