WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Swedes, Folkies & Candy-making Witches

Posted over 2 years ago
After a pretty rough day at work, there's nothing quite like being welcomed at home by a mail box filled to the brim with CDs...So here's my batch"Stars of The Lid - And Their Refinement of The Decline":http://www.brainwashed.com/common/htdocs/discog/krank100.html_I simply feel that they are making the most important music of the 21st century._ I'm not just saying it, Ivo Watts-Russell ("4ad":http://www.4ad.com label founder) does."Apreludes (in C Sharp Major)":http://brainwashed.com/common/sounds/mp3/stars_of_the_lid-apreludes_in_c_sharp_major.mp3"Black Moth Super Rainbow: Dandelion Gum":http://www.blackmothsuperrainbow.com/Apparently the album is based on a concept of candy-making witches who inhabit a forest and lure hapless locals to their doom with their sweets..."Sun Lips":http://www.blackmothsuperrainbow.com/black_moth_super_rainbow-sun_lips.mp3"The Residents: Eskimo":http://www.residents.com/"Kevin Drumm: Sheer Hellish Miasma 2007 reissue":http://www.editionsmego.com/twiki/bin/view/Editionsmego/ArtistPage#kevindrumm_Utilising guitar, tapes, mics, pedals, analogue synthesizer and some computer assistance Drumm has concocted a sonic beast. For seasoned noise veterans, Sheer Hellish Miasma offers a bracing soundscape filled with exquisitely abrasive textures and more than enough hidden detail to warrant repeated listening – a distinct voice in the increasingly same-sounding world of abstract electronic noise._"Tim Hecker:Mirages":http://www.sunblind.net/discography/mirages/mirages.html_At the height of their powers, white-noise godheads My Bloody Valentine would be known to leave their guitars alone on-stage at the end of a performance, feeding back for up to 30 minutes while the audience was left awash in the sound of static running on static. Imagining that effect not as an end, but as a beginning..._"Shirley Collins:Anthems in Eden":http://www.shirleycollins.co.uk/anthems.htmand last but not least..."Dungen: Tio Bitar":http://www.dungen-music.com/music.html_Tio Bitar is Dungen's most realized album yet and should resonate with anyone who likes rock music at all. This is psychedelia in 2007, defined, articulated and offered in an array of rainbow colors that bleed into a swath of great rock power and beauty._Which only proves that the more I download music, the more I buy records (I just don't want to pay 20 EUR per CD, which is the average price in France...so I get them from amazon/caiman for 8/10eur..).

  2. Kate says Nice choices! I've been rocking out to Dungen and Black Moth Super Rainbow as well. I think I prefer the BMSR/Octopus Project split to this new one, but have been enjoying it nonetheless. Haven't heard Stars of the Lid before. The song titles are certainly intruiging!
