Villette Sonique - Fennesz / Patton & NWW

Posted over 2 years ago
About 10 days ago, I went to see, as part of the yearly "Villette Sonique":http://www.villettesonique.com/ festival, a collaboration between Fennesz & Patton and the first performance of Nurse with Wound in Paris!+*Fennesz & Patton*+Although they come from different universes, Patton and Fennesz have shared stage during a European tour to do an unusual performance that is a hymn to radical creative freedom: electronic touches, krautrock landscapes, sampling, stormy drones, mellotron echoes.
The gig started pretty late because of a late arrival in Paris (hence the nice "Air France" comment from Mike Patton).+*Nurse With Wound*+In 2006 "Nurse With Wound":http://brainwashed.com/nww/ returned to live performance after a 20 year absence, first appearing at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and , in December, at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival organized by Thurston Moore. This was their first show ever in Paris, they were joined on stage by David Tibet of "Current 93":http://brainwashed.com/c93/ and Jac Berrocal (a notorious free-jazz legend) for a wonderful performance of abstract music (clearly influenced by Krautrock, freewheeling jazz improvisation, and Throbbing Gristle but including a heavy debt to surrealists).

  7. wassonii says Speaking of Comelade, from Mutant Sounds: "Here’s":http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/06/fall-of-saigon-stmpl1983france.html the holy grail for Comelade collectors: his one-off collaboration on a punky minimal pop project called Fall of Saigon.
