Wow, it took me 2 weeks to write this post, probably the time I needed to recover from this amazing show from Wilco in Paris."Carla Bozulich":http://www.carlabozulich.com/ was opening for them on this short end of the European tour, needless to say I was kind of hoping that Nels Cline would join her on stage for old time's sake (as members of "The Geraldine Fibbers":http://www.stardustlanes.com/fibbers/ and as former lovers...).Well, he actually played during most of her very brief but intense set, Glen Kotche joined them as well for one song.
If you're not familiar with her work I can only recommend last year's album Evangelista out on the "Constellation":http://www.cstrecords.com/records_index_new.html label and recorded in Montréal with members of "Godspeed You! Black Emperor":http://brainwashed.com/godspeed/main.html .
Now Wilco, they were absolutely brilliant, it was my third Wilco gig and in my humble opinion they're definitely one of the very best live band around.Just take a look at this fantastic set list:1. You Are My Face2. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart3. Muzzle Of Bees4. Handshake Drugs5. A Shot In The Arm6. At Least That's What You Said7. Side With The Seeds8. Either Way9. War On War10. Via Chicago11. Jesus, Etc.12. Walken13. I'm The Man Who Loves You14. Hummingbird15. On And On And OnEncore 1:16. Impossible Germany17. Sky Blue Sky18. Spiders (Kidsmoke)Encore 2:19. Hate It Here20. I'm Always In Love21. The Late GreatsThe highlights were "Spiders", "On and On and On", "Either Way", "Hate it Here"... the list could go on...
I have been told that Jeff Tweedy stopped smoking not such a long time ago, you can definitely hear his voice is in better shape and stronger than ever, and I am still in awe of the sounds produced by Nels Cline, what he brought to the band is priceless!
