WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Love Is Simple

After the Angels of Light brilliant record "We are Him":http://www.younggodrecords.com/product.asp?P_ID=46, it looks like "Young God records":http://www.younggodrecords.com/default.asp is about to release another contender for this year's best albums.According to Michael Gira, "Akron/Family":http://www.akronfamily.com/mainstreet.htm are _four extremely nice, sincere and well-mannered young men from rural America who came to NYC (in 2002) to make music, hoping to find a thread of real magic still winding through this city’s music scene._ Following last year's Meek Warrior, they will release on September 10th "Love Is Simple" perhaps their most ambitious and yet most instantly infectious release to date. The striking cover of "Love Is Simple" is a photograph by Robert Clark of a human heart stripped bare of fat and extraneous tissue, down mainly to the blood vessels that sustain it, is a specimen from the famed Mutter Museum in Philadelphia that appeared on the cover of the February 2007 issue of National Geographic Magazine. They fell in love with the image and spent months tracking down the photographer and getting his permission to have it appear as the CD package cover.

  1. Girlcrawl says Gira's voice still terribly intrigues me, and I find the music he's creating both with Angels of Light and the Akron/Family quite exciting - am anticipating the 'Love Is Simple' release. 'Striking' cover indeed, and great post!

  3. wassonii says Kinda like this: The album is growing on me, bit by bit. I will be ready for it when it hits! (Sept. 17, I believe) FYI preordering from Amazon has the special edition (w/DVD) at 16.99, at least in the US.
