One of our most played songs the past few months on "The Time Machine" radio show is "He's Peculiar" by Vibeke Saugestad off of her third solo album "The World Famous Hat Trick".  She has been in a number of bands over the years with quite an output of recorded work beginning with Avslørte Bondepiker in 1992.   Vibeke joined  a group called Weld in 1993 that released two albums on EMI.  She then kick started another group, Thelyblast, who released one record on Sony Music, before  she  went on to make  records as a solo artist ("Into The Shimmering" from 2001 and "Overdrive" in 2003).  She is currently a band member of the Norway band The Yum Yums playing keyboards.  Her U.S. record label has given us the go ahead to share this awesome new music video of her song with you. It was directed and edited by Jørgen Lauritzen & Jan Robert Johnsen with cinematography by Rune Heim. Enjoy!

Singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata (and frequest radio guest on The Time Machine) has some exciting news to share today.

EP RELEASE "LOOSE ENDS"....

Dear Patient Pollyanna Partners,

News news news! I've just signed with Warner Bros Records and we are working overtime to get all ducks in a row for an early October release! Thank you for hanging with me all this time – it's been a long road of red tape trails, but I'm very excited about the new team of peeps and I can finally say that we are on our way!

I am pleased to say there is a little something available for your listening pleasure – an ep. The "L Word" was kind enough to premiere one of the songs a few weeks back ("The Other Side"). We heard you were looking, and lord knows you've been waiting for a record, so while I work on getting that out, I've put three songs up to tide you over. They are not "happy" per se (I do stay true to my roots), but they do feature some beautiful strings and my old friend, the piano. There is a link on myspace, or you may go directly here

So for those of you heading for heartbreak, here is some tonic. Add vodka or gin, a candle, some headphones and please enjoy.

Artist: Album: New Day Track: Nobody Is
Other Tags: Ray Martinez, John David, Dave Charles, Airwaves, spring, Pat Moran, New Day, Next Stop, rock, pop, dave edmunds, Love Sculpture, The Time Machine, radio, Maui, Hawaii, Wales U.K.

We're not really sure why both albums from A&M Records act Airwaves have never been released on CD. Both "New Day" from 1977 and "Next Stop" from 1979 are well produced albums filled with extremely catchy songs. We get nervous in the studio playing these precious albums on the FM dial worried that they will get scratched and will be hard to replace. The trio was made up of talented guitarist Ray Martinez (from the early 70's band Spring), bassist and keyboardist John David (Love Sculpture, Dave Edmunds - yes...that's John on Dave Edmunds' monster hit "I Hear You Knockin') and drummer Dave Charles. John is considered the third most successful Welsh songwriter ever with his songs being covered by over two hundred artists worldwide. John sings lead on this song while Ray whips his guitar into a frenzy to the pounding skins of Dave's drums. Here for your listening pleasure is "Nobody Is" recorded in Wales and produced by Pat Moran with Dave Charles as assistant engineer.

*We were too lazy to take a photograph of the album cover to post online so you have a photo instead of The Time Machine's hosts Summer Blue and Michael McCartney. It takes an online detective to find photographs of the band Airwaves back in the seventies.

why not copy the records so you don't have to play the originals? you could have the album on CD, mp3 or tape.

Spike says:

Yeah, why not? Are the other cuts on the album as supremely beautiful as "Nobody Is"? If so, I'm salivating. Maybe there are tracks I have that you'd want me to copy for you in return. Even better, I could get my boys to lean a little on Herb and Burt to reissue it and avoid unfortunate things happening to them.
