Jesus. Since when did Making the Gig become such a life or death gamble/investment.
we climbed onto I 75 south a good three hours after the snow had stopped, cincinnati bound, thinking that surely they’d had enough time to plow.
no. there were still huge 32 mile chunks of unplowed terrain, and plenty of fellow travelers queueing up to roll 30 miles an hour on a skating rink.
The van doesn’t like snow, it turns out. we thought that its sheer weight would be a help but it’s like a bull on ice - fishtailing around, locking up its wheels. Harrowing sixty miles down to cinci
BUT we made it. Sadly, the Delusionals did not make it, however, something about the drummer’s wife having a baby? i didn’t get the full story, but if that was the case then i wish you guys all the best and hope everything worked out. The Cincinnati Suds made it though, and once we played, they stepped up and hit it straight out of the park. “She’s So Young” is now my favorite song of 2008. that’s them in the blog photo above, i’m PISSED i didn’t roll on them for ya, we were out of tape from doing our own gig, but you HAVE to check ‘em out -- they’re the embodiment of what Ohio brings to the table musically - a big nasty sound with big nasty words done at top volume and fever pitch. i don’t like it. I LOVE IT.
