On June 10, Orange Peel Bob Vickers and his elusive brother, Rob, release their debut album, "Gallimaufry" on the Bus Stop Label. The album, recorded at Orange Peels Headquarters (aka Mystery Lawn Studio in Sunnyvale, CA) was produced by Allen Clapp, who writes the following introduction:
"I've always been a fan of music that evokes a sense of place - songs that take you somewhere; and the idea that music should spring forth from a place just as naturally as native wildflowers …
The music on this album will always instantly transport me to the redwooded coastal towns of Northern California.
Of course, with a name like "Gallimaufry," the album is all over the musical map, offering up backwoods folk, baroque pop, Joe Meek-inspired sci-fi weirdness and even elements of kraut-rock. And for a while we were concerned that the smattering of styles would be distracting for the listener; until we realized the variety was the very thing holding the album together.
And because of the eclectic nature of the album, the quality of the songwriting and the inventiveness of the arrangements, I couldn't have asked for a better project as my inaugural outing as a producer - The Incredible Vickers Brothers make me look good!
But in the end, we just did what artists and producers have done for years: take lyrics, melodies and rhythm and try to make something magical happen.
After three years of hard work and nearly dying on the flight to the mastering session, I think we captured it. I quote the brothers: 'You make it all look so showbiz, where did you learn to do magic like that?'"
Sincerely,
Allen Clapp

sounds promising!
It is a Gallimaufry!
1. a hodgepodge, a mixed-up jumble
2. a ridiculous medley
3. a promiscuous assemblage
learn somethin new every day.
