Grunge made us feel like life was worthless. Hip hop made us feel like life was only worth it if we had a Maybach and could "make it rain" with 100 dollar greenbacks. Indie Rock made us feel like life had to be lived as a pretentious asshole who claimed to listen only to bands less than a week old. And emo rock made us feel like life was about cutting ourselves after our 14 year old girlfriend dumped us, in order to make sure we still could feel the pain.
80's music makes us feel like life belongs to us and we deserve to live it to the fullest.
This is why Joe Esposito should run for President. Or at least be on Obama's ticket.
Remember, "You're the best...around."

Time has a way of sorting the wheat from the chaff, so it's time to remember The Best and forget the likes of Duran Duran. (That's what little I remember of the 80's, since DMP's Jazz artist lineup was competing for CD money with Hawaii musicians.) For example, McCoy Tyner's solo piano CD, "Revelations" did pull me away from the local music battles between The Brothers Cazimero vs. Keola & Kapono Beamer or The Peter Moon Band vs. Hawaiian Style Band for a few minutes.
