Now at the tender age of 22, Turner has teamed up with mate Miles Kane (of indie also-rans The Little Flames and The Rascals) to launch side project The Shadow Puppets.”More…http://mog.com/Joxley/blog_post/157281Artist: Dizzee RascalAlbum: Maths+EnglishMollifire:” The grime scene is fierce and brutal, even towards its most talented players. Amongst longtime fans, Dizzee Rascal's name has become synonymous with "sell out" since signing a deal with XL in the U.K. last year. Next thing we know, Dizzee's face is everywhere; he's appearing on TV, touring around the world, etc., while his mates are still struggling in the streets and small studios in London.”More…http://mog.com/mollifire/blog_post/158176Artist: ClinicAlbum: Do It!Augusts1:” One could say that Clinic’s new album, Do It, has all been done before — by the band themselves, in fact. But that’s not a bad thing. This is not to say that it is a predictable recording either. It is frenetic, curious, offbeat and full of big rock riffs. The band has honed their chops to a point where they really come across even more lucid than before, despite their somewhat unhinged approach.”More…http://mog.com/Augusts1/blog_post/157729Artist: VetiverAlbum: Thing Of The PastCogwheeldogs:” Vetiver's new record, Thing of the Past, is out on 13 May. Unlike the band's previous two albums, this one is not built around original material, but is a collection of cover versions.Perhaps fittingly (given this fact, and the album's title), it's a nostalgia-tinged collection, infused with gentle melancholia and a slight weariness. The majority of the songs are slow to mid-tempo, steady, acoustic-based - and arrangements are subtle, sometimes minimalistic tapestries, in which textures and moods are more important than drama and narrative.”More…http://mog.com/cogwheeldogs/blog_post/157334Mogger Of The WeekSay hello to MKTackabery! Meet Michelle, a "fanatical" music lover: "I've always dug music, but I became fanatical when I started working at a record store right out of college. I worked part time at a Record Bar in here in North Carolina, which at the time was a chain of mall stores that had a tape guarantee where if the tape you bought died you could replace it up to a year later. It led to me becoming a manager and later a music buyer. Lots of happy memories, many very small paychecks."I found MOG through the Lifehacker blog, and I'm really glad I did. I've made real friends here and increased my music collection at least fifty-fold thanks to the great EMCDs (Evil Music Crack Dealers) that make up the MOG. Shout outs to all my Trusteds for all of their great advice and introductions."Some of the great artists I've discovered through the MOG include Paula Frazer and Against Me (from Rawkiddo), Christian Kjellvander (thanks to Me and the Horse I Rode In On), who's also going to be in my living room at the end of the summer, Marsen Jules (from Mersenne), Josh Rouse (thanks matt cleveland), and the one and only Ping Pong B****es (props to Anna)."And shout outs right back at ya! Michelle has been mogging with us for just about a year and a half. It's been intense as she explains: "Since I've been on the MOG I've shared my sister's death, the painful reality of being an NC State basketball fan in Duke and Carolina country, changing job woes, and life as an overworked graduate student, so my life seems pretty much like an open book sometimes. I think the only thing some people might not know is that I am married to a confirmed, dyed-in-the-wool metalhead who still bangs the steering wheel when Ratt comes on the radio, never misses an episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and dreams of the day he drags me to a Metallica concert. He doesn't get a lot of 'my music,' but he loves me anyway. That makes me a pretty lucky girl."I'm picking up my Masters of Science degree in two weeks. Other than that my husband and I are pretty low key - we go to football, basketball and baseball games for our fun - and we spend way too much time on the internet."Be sure to stop by and say hello to TACK!http://mog.com/mktackaberyWord Of MOGHanging Out With Jello Biafra At The Black Metal ShowSturgell:” I looked over and noticed that I was standing right next to Jello Biafra. I decided to ask him what he thought, because I was having a hard time digesting it all.”More..http://mog.com/Sturgell/blog_post/157701I Was A Bedford Stuyvesant Art StudentDachmo:” Picture if you will a white boy on a skateboard making his way to a pizza parlor two blocks from his school, now picture those streets littered with burnt out cars propped up with cinderblocks and broken crack viles getting stuck in your wheels, two years earlier Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" ignited a neighborhood 3 blocks away from me and put the need for local residents to go on night time wilding sessions on the "rich" white boys who now roamed their streets. Thankfully I hung with some real cromags who enjoyed an honest brawl if there had to be one so late night Chinese food runs were done in packs.”More…http://mog.com/dachmo/blog_post/158028The Mog Aggregation Challenge!“I've got a new game for you. Everyone in the blogosphere knows that these blogs and such work with a little principal known as aggregation. Which if you don't know just means that the more something is linked to, or mentioned, the higher it ranks on sites like Digg and Redit, etc. Well, we all may agree that there are certain bands (like Arcade Fire) that just burn up the blogosphere with their hype. Which had me wondering….”More…http://mog.com/contrabandwidth/blog_post/158082New Stones Flick Worth More Than Worth It’s Weight In SpitDavid_Hyman: ”go see shine a light perhaps you're apprehensive because you think their days are done and it might be boring. HAHAHAHAHAH . that they're just a bunch of old guys playing songs they wrote 20 years ago. i'm here to tell you: EL-WRONG-O. the stones simply tear in up in this movie. it's totally a mind-blowing thing to behold.”More..25 Worst Rappers Of All-Time!MrFrost:” For some reason Yahoo! decided to make a list of the 25 worst rappers of all time, and the list has surprisingly caught on around the internet. If you have any doubts about a tech company giving their expert opinion on hip hop, you're absolutely right. By all accounts the list is pretty horrible, and most fans seem to agree.”More…http://mog.com/MrFrost/blog_post/157453Is Everyone On MOG High?Well?
