WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Lily Allen "Consulting Her Lawyers" Over Negative Lefsetz Letter Article

Posted 3 months ago

While UK princess Lily Allen's mildly catchy pop is often ingratiating, she's making a lot of enemies of late. Emerging as the late-outghts' Lars Ulrich, the singer has been aggressively attacking file-sharing fans, going as far as to threaten to quit entirely.

Now, in response to industry insider and general music futurist icon Bob Lefsetz's recent article in the Lefsetz Letter implying that only untalented artists have anything to worry about, Allen has issued the following, grammatically impaired response:

I'd appreciate an apology. I'm not a hypocrite music , I pay for music that I want to listen to. I don't illegally download music and haven't done for about 7 years. Maybe your just trying to get a reaction and for me to publicise your website... you're piece yesterday was mildly interesting, todays is insulting and I'll be consulting my lawyers on the matter.

While Allen may have a valid (if badly articulated) argument about filesharing, one can't help but wonder why her immediate response to a thoughfully reasoned essay is to consider suing. The fact that Lesfetz's website is incredibly influential with labels and not prone to publicity stunts aside, it doesn't seem smart to attack the fans AND industry insiders.

So now she wants to sue until the internet era suddenly ends AND keep people from calling her out. Yeah, that'll work. Keep kicking at the ocean, kid.
