This is Exploding

Guitar fans, take note.If you're like me, sometimes you just need some effing rock. Forget the keys and the horns and the R&B and the this and the that and you just need some god damn rock.Enter This is Exploding. Two guitars, bass and drums. With chops. And decent lyrics, that while sometimes are a little too emo, are delivered with twentysomething angst and sincerity by frontman Joshua Jesty (Sample lyric: "This is a lust song/I don't wanna feel nothing.").Although the lead guitar can get a little noodly, the band always brings it back to full rock power in the nick of time, with a huge chorus or an understated verse. Someone knows how to use amps and effects pedals well, too. The lead always gets nasty and sweaty just when it needs to, with plenty of scraping strings and bleeding fingers. And the guitarists are content to let the bass and drums have their share of glory, too. The band interplay at the end of the opening track, "Drive," features bass and drum syncopation while the geets play melody/countermelody to the huge low-end push coming from the rhythm section.Listen. Rock. Enjoy.

  3. mktackabery says cool band. when I first heard them I immediately thought of The Police, actually. Then I went over to their MySpace page and found out Andy Summers is one of their major influences, and Summers is the one of the most brilliant, under-rated rock guitarists in the universe, and so now I'm hooked. Thanks rid. M
