WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

Bee Gees Greatest Hits

Posted over 2 years ago
I already had this cd from when it came out in the 80s. Actually I have it 3 times I had it on vinyl, then cd, now on iTunes I am a sucker for cool remixes in general so I had to go for it a third time. This is a great place to start if your interested in the Bee Gees because it has some tracks that are from 1974s Main Course album thru 1979 Spirits Having Flown. I love Saturday Night Fever but the music before and after is SO much better(maybe its because theyre not as played out)Nights on Broadway is the first song that brought out the falsetto that the Bee Gees are famous for(or infamous depending on your tastes) I personally like the pre-falsetto songs like Fanny, Rest Your Love and Jive Talkin. Barry Gibb's voice is so smooth in these songs. The post-SNF songs include Spirits Having Flown, Tragedy and Too Much Heaven all chart topping hits in 1979-80 are some of my favorites(arent they all?) Now for the remixes... I have heard alot of misfit remixes that sound like crap(I bought one on ebay that was the worst of the worst ugh)but these are some excellent reminding me of being back in the day in NY (where djs mixed by hand and not with some computer software) partying and dancing my ass off. The "If I cant Have You" remix is the best of the 3(Night Fever and Stayin Alive) but they are all fun. The Bee Gees for all the slack they have taken over the years are the music worlds guilty pleasure. During an eight-month period beginning in the Christmas season of 1977, the brothers wrote six songs that held the #1 position on the U.S. charts for 25 of 32 consecutive weeks-- three under their own name, two for brother Andy Gibb, and the Yvonne Elliman single.Somebody was buying these records. LOL
