    It's gone generic. Was there ever an explanation of why they took away the personality of the profile pages?

    I never heard it. I wonder if anybody else out there knows why. I guess they want us to focus on their new business model. I would've thought the personality was good for business though.

    Removing what makes the place individual has never worked in my experience. You mighjt get customers but you don't get fans.

    If I remember it correct, the profile pages were genericized because spambots were using them for nefarious reasons and they weren't being used extensively,except by a small minority of legit MOGGERS.

    MOGmail was judged clunky and old..a new communication system is promised.

    I am with Jonh in that I think MOG should come up with a secure way to personalize and help continue their fan base.  Maybe the legit MOGGERS are just vestigial to the business at this point and I should be glad they let us continue in our place on their website, but I guess I still want the experience to as stimulating as possible.

    I'm pretty sure that MOG has been the unwitting agent of some spam, and this post a response to the new regime. I agree that the profile pages may have been the point of attack, but I am still fielding a fair amount. The loss of indivuality may be the price of the increased customer base, but I enjoy the social network aspect of MOG. I like conversing with other degenerate music heads of all varieties. However, MOG continues to be a prime source for exposure to new artists or genres I am not familiar with. I have no problem with a subscription model, as this is the only way we are going to see any compensation to obscure but worthy musicians.

    If they're forcing us to deal with this they could at least make it look nice.  Here's hoping that Rdio adds a community component to make up for it.  So tired of sites I love taking away instead of adding functionality.

    @cpetersonart3, rawkiddoh, BerkeleyBob, and Reinbeast - Thanks for the comments, sorry for late reply.

    I just think the functionality of the profile pages is less than facebook now so I guess they are conceding social networking to facebook as it seems myspace has also done. In my opinion, without the social networking component, I'm not sure why MOG would be any different than other music streaming sites. It's the social networking aspect of MOG that could eventually get to me to try music streaming as I have not gotten into it as of yet. Hopefully, the powers that be at MOG will continue to realize that the social networking aspect is a still a big part of what makes MOG MOG.

    I sure do miss the Old Mog... it wasn't broke so why did they have to do away with it... though I hear you CodyB (The FUNKIN Master), I am with TBoom & Jonh... (& you), this site has gone way too far away from the beauty of what it once was & that makes me so sad. So many of the MOGily have deleted their accounts, they haven't just left them, THEY'VE DELETED them, that SAYS something. I haven't deleted, can't bring myself to do so... but do I miss the connections we all felt - & BOY WEREN'T THEY STRONG ?!? xoxox

    And Facebook is just so ugly and unintuitive.  MOG used to be a nice antidote to it that I hoped would continue to go in the right direction.  The thing is I want to keep my social network separate from my music+social network.  MOG and others are about the music and building a little community around like-minded music lovers, not about blurting out every thought that comes to your bored skull.

    @Lizziegreeneyes - I guess it says a lot about what MOG was that that form of MOG is missed. I wonder why they had to throw out the old to bring in the new. Both could have co-existed just fine.

    @Reinbeast - I agree that I like keeping MOG separate from just any type of blog or social networking. Facebook is definitely not the same as MOG.

    @Labracoon - I never used lala so can't comment.

    It's a bad sign that the only way I have of personallzing my site is to change the photo. The posts do not even get top billing these days.
