Just What I Needed

My heart is a little sad as I'm listening to the cars, because this song is automatically associated with circuit city now. Damn commercials using the chorus of this song... it's like when I hear Iron and Wine's cover of "Such Great Heights" I think of M & Ms... why, why, why? I mean, I like M & Ms, and I don't entirely hate circuit city, but I hate I instantly associate some great songs with product... sadness.

ennuikiller says yeah, I have a couple of posts addressed this issue, but, you know what, if the artists themselves encourage this sort of "abuse" there is not much to be done about it......to me it's just another indication of how much influence corporations really have....just imagine for a moment how much it would would take to convince you to hand over the rights to a song for use in a commercial for a low end electronics store....either a shit load of money or it means you really didn't think much of the song to begin with right?

Kid Charming says I think I'm lucky; if I already know the song, hearing it in a commercial doesn't bother me. If the first time I hear a song is in a commercial, though, the song's completely ruined for me.
