A funky celebration of the one I love.
I was driving by myself to Sedona, AZ for a mini-vision-quest - a few days of solitude, some soul-searching hikes, meditation, and a psychic reading or two just for fun. All of a sudden from out of the desert there appeared these incredible, awe-inspiring mountainous rocks and I heard "I got lucky when I got you" in my head. Then I started humming a melody. It all came pretty quickly and my biggest concern was that I'd forget the tune before I'd had a chance to pull over and get it onto my little mini-cassette recorder. Later, when I returned to L.A. and went to my producer Rich's studio, we listened to one of my favorite funk/soul songs - King Floyd's "Baby Let Me Kiss You" - and used that as a jumping-off point of inspiration. Rich started playing a funky bass line and I started singing the lyric I'd written in the car. The song was done in a just few hours.

good track... driving can be the best muse... and of course, the one you love - but the sweetest trick of all is pulling off a tune organically, that really works, in just a couple of hours... obviously, you and your producer, know exactly what you're doing...
