Somesing (The New Night Rider Theme) 6:49 I'm sure this has been discussed in the past...but I don't recall sharing or seeing a post recently. And thought for sure you Moggers and your eclectic tastes have done some annoying with the assistance of your speakers. In my younger days, I used to disturb my Ma with NIN (The Downward Spiral, no less and I believe the opener was enough ...”I am the hate you try to hide…and I control you”) and she didn’t care for my 2Pac phase much either. Years later, here I am annoying the hub with quite a bit of what I’m listening to these days, including…

  1. Dale says Last year, I was writing an album review for Battles' album Mirrored, so I had the album on repeat for a day straight. I thought my wife was gonna kill me by the end; she only tolerated it because I was writing. At one point, she made a crack about "evil squirrels" in regard to the lyrics on "Atlas". Oh yeah, that went in the review. To refresh your memory:

  2. Cody B says My wife, upon hearing any instrumental that isn't jazz or classical will say, "Oh, that's that music you like isn't it." One pseudo instrumental I could get her to stand: This is about it though, there's plenty of music we agree on, but acid-jazzy stuff gets the cold shoulder at my house

  3. Augusts1 says I know I've annoyed a few people w/The Downward Spiral when it came out Helen, lol Most of what I listen to annoys one or another of my friends so I can't really pin down anything specific. And since I live alone these days, I can listen to whatever the fuck I wanna!

  4. Sturgell says Why doesn't that stupid kid just move his face away from that thing?

  5. Dzendvokh says I can annoy my wife with just about anything "electronic" sounding..... doesn't necessarily mean she won't be able to appreciate it in more flexible moments.... needless to say, much of my listening goes through headphones. And the rare times that I am home alone, sans kiddos and wife, you can bet I crank it up.

  6. mitchy says my neighbours annoy me with country karaoke so i annoy them with RATM or 25 minutes of neil young and crazy horse feedback from ARC.

  7. Dale says Oh yeah, there was that wonderful time when we were first married and I had to wake myself up every morning by blaring Loveless at high volume while showering. She didn't appreciate that at all. Gee, wonder why?

  8. earthman says Strange but very likable, sounds like a cafe

  9. Marigold says ha. great thread SunnyD. my wife annoys me with such things as: Wham, Selena and the Eagles. I annoy my wife with Radiohead. She always says, "He (Thom Yorke) sounds like he is in pain and that he needs to get laid." lol. That line always cracks me up. I do not listen to a lot of loud music anymore but when I do she does not like that. Otherwise as long as it is not loud she can tune it out.

  10. Mike the Knife says I once annoyed a friend by playing Sparks' fiendishly clever and disco-fied song "I Married a Martian" (which I should post some day) on her car's CD player. But I tend to just headphone everything in 2008. Keeps people from getting all bothered...

  11. HelenMarie says *Nick* – Another spouse annoyed with electronic (in the not so “flexible moments” at least…oh la la) And for sure...if I’m home alone you can bet Morcheeba and the like is cranked up! All I can say is I’m very sorry *mitchy*. You have neighbors in low places. Great comeback though with Neil’s “balls in a vice” voice as a fellow mogger once described. Okay *Dale* – I just listened to some Loveless since I never heard of and it could’ve been the part “??Darling Would You?? …stop giving me attitude” May have to side with your wife on that one. ; ) They sing it quite pleasantly at least! ; ) I like a café descript better than a Night Rider one, thanks *earthman*! : ) *MariG* - Long time no see…so glad you could stop by! : ) I’m sure I’d have a great time hanging out with your wife but I’m annoyed by her music now too! But that’s a good one about Yorke, people come up with such clever things for him! *Mike* – I could really do with some “disco-fied” tunes right about now! The title of that one could work as title to the story of my life (at moments) and I’m sure the hub feels the same.

  12. scotfree says Well, my wife has become immune to just about any oddity coming from the speakers, but Yuki can still bet under her skin!!
    Permalink posted 03/28/2008
  13. HelenMarie says Hey Scotfree - Yuki...yes...it's getting under, must...push....stop. And obviously I'm not familiar with ??*K*night Rider?? Well I guess you all knew what I meant...

  14. Cody B says I kinda cheated by putting the one song in the groove jazz genre my wife does like.apologies.
    Permalink posted 03/28/2008
  15. HelenMarie says Oh good...her and I can be friends after all! ; ) I just noticed my reply to you too and it should be "doesn't *it* have a drift away feel". My grammar points are not adding up here.

  16. Cody B says No Worries,D..I am the worstest at grammar and spelling..The track is a definite sailer..a real fave of mine, so I think the extended airplay swayed my wife over to it.

  17. HelenMarie says Aww...but you're the bestest at comforting...thanks. : )

  18. Cody B says Thanks SD..you know, in the end, I annoy myself the most..by procrastinating. Have an unannoying weekend.

  19. poebegone says H! another excellent thread, i see. Downward Spiral and Loveless were defo the two most annoying for my parents, oh and RAtM's self-titled cuz i actually _sang along_ to make matters worse. un4tunately, when i moved out, i _grew up_ and started caring about my flatmates' peace, so like Knifey i tend to just headphone everything now.

  20. ROCKNROLLPIMP says i'm sorry. i put it back in my pants
    Permalink posted 03/30/2008
  21. HelenMarie says *I!* The thread is only that because of all the excellent comments like yours. Good to hear I'm not alone with the Downward Spiral. Singing to RAtM's Killing in the Name Of yeah!? I am determined to get some kind of mogger karaoke thread goin' and that's the number you're assigned. Oh how I'd love to hear that! Apologies accepted *Pimp*! Phew...I'm glad you finally got the point, you dirty dog. ; )

  22. poebegone says uhm. surely we can negotiate an easier number...?
    Permalink posted 03/31/2008
  23. HelenMarie says Nope, sorry the negotiation box is closed. ; )

  24. FluxCapacitor says Without doubt, the person I annoy most with my music choices is me. This week I really annoyed myself with British Sea Power. Every song seemed to have an epic choral chorus with strings (de rigeur for Nothern English Indie bands circa 1997). I killed that album stone dead after four songs. I wonder what shit I'll be annoying myself with this week...
    Permalink posted 04/01/2008
  25. HelenMarie says Leave it to you...annoying yourself with your music. Ha! And British Sea Power...hum. Listening doesn't really annoy me personally...I love the tune ??Waving Flags??. Now their ??video's?? on the other hand...maybe more disturbing than annoying. No Lucifer specifically...??creeeeeepy?? Oh and please remember to write down the shit that annoyed yourself for a post...everyone loves hearing about what makes FluxCapacitor tick.
    Permalink posted 04/01/2008
  26. FluxCapacitor says Yeah, that's not a bad idea for a post. Or: People I Annoyed This Week. I could generate plenty of material for that one. Btw, that video is very, very, very, very, very annoying.
