    Live Frogs: Set 1

Shine On You Crazy Diamond [Jack Irons Version]
I've seen Les Claypool's Frog Brigade (and his miscellaneous side projects) a handful of times and it's absolutely fascinating. From amazing sets and extended jams to bizarre costumes and enlightening chit-chat, it's simply remarkable talent on one stage and (usually) for a small price.A section from the sleeve of _Live Frogs: Set 1_..."The Frog Brigade, as represented by this recording, is a gathering of players that excel at their craft to the point of extreme. Though the band had only been playing together a couple of months at the time, the innate chemistry and the natural flow of spontaneous material prompted the making of 'Live Frogs: Set 1' the first milestone in the Frog Brigade catalogue. These recordings are put forth with little or no editing or dubbing. The songs were recorded over the course of two consecutive evenings at the glorious Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The length of these tunes is apparent by the little numbers next to each title, the girth of these tunes is apparent only by listening and absorbing. The vast amount of pleasure that we experienced making this record I hope will translate over to you. Here’s to music for music,Les Claypool”The ending track of the first set (attached) prepares you properly for 2nd set of the _Live Frogs_ double disc, which is Pink Floyd’s _Animals_ performed, in its entirety, by the Frog Brigade. If nothing else, at least listen to the sounds he makes with the *Whamola* on "MYSPACE":http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=35254295 http://www.lesclaypool.com/news/You *must* see "Colonel Les Claypool's Frog Brigade" live if you have the chance!2/29/08 Charlotte, NC Neighborhood Theatre Buy Now3/01/08 Asheville, NC The Orange Peel Buy Now3/03/08 Nashville, TN City Hall Buy Now3/04/08 Atlanta, GA Variety Playhouse Buy Now*3/06/08 Everglades Nat. 7. Augusts1 says Not been too into Les Claypool even though he lives here in Sonoma County, CA, in the next town west of me. I've enjoyed some of Primus' songs but alot of it was just too weird & creepy for me. This song you posted is pretty good though. Some killer guitar work on it.

  24. Marigold says March 6-9 is the most crazy time of the year. That week represents the two biggest shows my company produces are back to back that weekend. One show moving out and one moving in. My boss would fire me for asking for a "long weekend" in early March. (not really, but it makes for a crazy story...but you get my drift) I really would love to go. One thing that we are kind of delaying for our summer road trip on the east coast is to see when or if MMW will be out that way while we are. (Late May - Mid June) Maybe if there is one in the Virginia area we could all meet. I am sure Katrina would be down! I really wish I could go.

But Tyler they're not on the bill...Although I'll try to remember if I hear the tunes! : P Mari G - You know I'm kidding you...I wouldn't expect ya to come all the way to Miami! Shoot you may as well plan on coachella then. And let me know about the VA date, my brother lives there. It'd give me a good reason to visit him too! MMW would be a bonus!!

  26. Anna says For a panicking moment there, I thought the mp3 was actually Shakira's Whenever Wherever (whatever, if I may add); really, it starts just like that, and don't ask how I know this. Thanks for the introductions. I have a soft spot for men in costumes and masks and bands! And I'm up for a cuddle partay :)

  35. TylerDurden says Sunny, that was a great find...but did he really think that was the hamburgalar?? I thought the hamburgalar was a burger head with prison stripes, hence burgalar...I can't bloody spell... I tried to find a picture of the purple Teletubie, but I can't load pictures in my comments for some reason....I could wear the gay indian outfit from 'The Village People' with a purple shag head-dress!!!! I'm too fat to be an indian though!

And speaking of coming up with better examples...don't you think you could've came up with a picture a little more tempting...!? You can do better than that! I started to wonder if I should even comment about the kissing part of the song on Augusts mog...but I really got a good laugh out of your comment, thanks! Cheers!

  44. Jammy Jeff says I must say that before I clicked on the upload button I was filled with trepidation because it's one of my all time favourite songs. Thankfully, they've done a good interpretation of it filling some of the space with their own musical personality. It's good, pity they're not coming to England because I would have definitely been in the queue to see them.

  45. HelenMarie says Hey Jammy Jeff - I'm glad the Frog Brigade didn't disappoint in doing one of your "all time favourites"! And I have to thank you for taking the time to listen...that's a good 12 minutes! They do get pretty intense 8 minutes into it too so I think it's well worth it. And I'll have to keep an eye on the tour...I'm pretty sure they've made their way across the waters in the past so surely they'll make the trip again. Thanks for stopping by!
