Take off calls for something soothing, so I focused on breathing and calming my anxiety with…STS9. Then after we were steady onto…Tegan & Sara The Con. While floating fast 37,000+ ft above the night-lights (that now look like little clusters of nebulas under the clouds)…Starflyer 59 The Fashion Focus (Thanks Mr. Marigold)From the port to Grandma’s…Various R&B and remixes via XM radio in the background.During a visit to the auction/swap meet/ flea market…Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun (one of my presents) & The Dirty Dozen Brass Band’s Buck Jump were found for $4.00 each! The gathering (music playing - football watching - karaoke singing – toasting) area downstairs was full of the Blues, not only by me having to hear the family sing karaoke (Grandpa-in-law was hooked on singing Elvira, he’s a black man with a great voice, but Elvira!?)…Rick Fink and His Gas House Gorillas, Hot Monkey Love, William Clarke’s "Groove Time", along with the "Legend's of Blues" Box set. (All downloaded onto the laptop with thanks.)Christmas Day…Music was in the background most of the time on Christmas, but that night I tuned into a nice moment with…Elvis and "If I Can Dream" (there’s a first for everything). Thursday…Due to my on again, off again procrastination tendency, we missed out on a concert (or 3) from “The Bouncing Souls” playing at The Stone Pony. Since we decided to wait until we got to town to get tickets, we didn’t go because they had sold out. It was local and would’ve been fun but I’m not kicking myself over it. A visit to the “big apple” (not the corporation…the city of New York) included…
Amy Winehouse (the music not herself) in “The Irish Pub”, among complaints, by the Irish tenders (equipped with a heavy accent) of hearing too much Johnny Cash on the jukebox.
Miscellaneous pop songs were heard in the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan as I peaked in and out of some very cool shops. I was honestly too mesmerized by all the bigness and pretty lights surrounding famous faces to notice the music during the visit.
On the way to the airport…U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” came from the speakers, well timed, after a brief conversation about religion. Thankfully the conversation was brief because I have an aversion to discuss religion with preaching hypocrites. In flight heading (thankfully) to the warm and sunny south…Tokyo Police Club's "A Lesson in Crime". Check out their talent in Citizen’s Of Tomorrow…
