Method Man: Maybe, actually, possibly a songwriter... or probably just a masterful artist of slop.
I'm the biggest Method Man non-enthusiast on the planet. Yeah, I used to love the guy, but as with 87% of the Wu, the honeymoon was over shortly after the second crew album and when Redman was consistently bangin' on the cat track after track in the savage way. BUT You might remember this joint here:Now, am I crazy, or was there some buggged out, experimental song structure happnin? Alotta people hated this song when it came out, but I went crazy. It sounded like what I thought hip-hop from the future should sound like, back in 98/99 whenever it came out. I just recently went back and revisited the song and started throwing it into my DJ sets for the hell of it. That's when it started dawning on me that this song is pure madness. The "hook" appears twice I think, he has about two or three different bridges and just as many repeating one-line hooks sprinkled throughout the song. I'm not sure there's a song like this in the genre as far as structure goes. Weird, huh? Maybe some kind of method to the madness. Badomp-ching.
